"Wi-Fi is available on almost all routes" how convenient is streaming when it is not available on your route?

either way I can watch a film using my physical media on my laptop for free

Quote:
10,000 movies at your fingertip. If that doesn't define convenient what does?
well if i am at my sisters cottage where there is no wi-fi or cell there is 0 streaming movies, if i am atr my friends cottage where there is no wi-fi and limited cell service (with a data cap on my cell) there is nothing at my finger typo.

When I am at home I don't think it is 10k films I have but it is way more than half that and it is all content that I bought that I am interested in. Can you tell me which subscription service has 10k films i would be interested to watch?
Quote:
What streaming services do you subscribe to if any?
technically amazon prime but not for the streaming. There is never anything I would rather watch on it than something I would rather watch in my collection.

no we accept the results. The point is they are meaningless.

A bit under a month ago I was at my middle sisters and she told me there was something wrong with her washer (wire and rubber that seals the door came off that day). I had my phone on me pulled up the YouTube video and fixed it for her, does that mean I want to watch a three hour film on my phone? there is no chance that will ever happen.

On the other hand why didn't you post the stats of what people used for physical media. My guess 0% would be smartphone

It is not about fitting anyone's argument but that it is meaningless.

Phone and tablet are relatively clean categories. But console is 26% and TV is 61% can you tell me if all the 26% clicked on TV as well (since I am sure they are watching it ion a TV)? how about streaming devices, they had 34% and even laptop at 43% and desktop at 25% can have been used with a TV (I know I have).

Everyone does not have all the devices listed above. It would never add up to 100%.
The raw data would be more interesting probably or less depending on how you look at it. I assume smart tv, streaming device and gaming console all have rather low correlations with each other while all performing the same task which means tv streaming is probably near 100%. It makes sense iPhones and tablets have pretty high percentages also as they aren’t split like iPhone vs android and tablet vs iPad etc.

They wanted the data to look more interesting but what they probably got is nearly everyone uses a tv and a lot use iPads or laptops to fulfill the same purpose and a fair number use smartphones along with other things because it’s the most portable option you always have on you.

Look at the raw data and I assume you just have bad misleading statistics. Which is an easy thing to do with statistics.

Honestly I am surprised smartphone only garnered 68%

do 31% not have a smart phone? did they never even see an animated GIF/animated emoticon (not to mention, video call, tik tok, youtube, facebook... or even surf the web like this site that has video ads or videos in posts)

Console (eg PS4, Xbox) are these stats for 2013 (when the PS4 came out) or 2003 (when the original xbox was around)

Age group ended at 64 so they may not know what kind of equipment they have. All they know it turn it on, press a few buttons and watch.

If 60% of people use their UHD TV Apps for Streaming they will have to have a TV with a Fast Processor for Solid PQ and SQ. I have a Sony with the X1 Processor in my HT with Outstanding Picture and Sound Quality, and a TCL in my Computer room with poor Streaming because it has a weak Processor! Both the Sony and the TCL use Android Google Apps.

Alchav,

I believe you may have reached a new level of confusion.

There's the signal and then there's noise. Fidelity attempts to reproduce the original signal and typically processing of the signal is minimized. Fidelity has almost nothing to do with online movie streaming though so don't worry about it.

Sony and TCL both make great TVs and the X1 is a compelling processor. You don't "have to" have a great processor in your TV for streaming though. It's compromised signal to begin with and it's best viewed as is to the extent possible.

Sony's marketing says "Everything you watch is enhanced to present content faithfully, as the creators intended." but in fact it's one or the other. It's either enhanced or as the creators intended. Mastered AV is complete with all the information the signal needs. It is most faithfully reproduced when post processing is minimized.

I don't think it has so much to do with the processor as the TV's OS and app support. My Vizio from 2020 has an amazing image but the OS interface and apps are extremely slow and buggy, to the point of not being worth the trouble to try and use them. So I have my Nvidia Shield Pro connected to that TV.

My other 4K TV is an LG from 2016. It still receives OS and app updates and runs much smoother than my Vizio. I rarely have problems with it. Bu the interface is clunky so I use my 4K Fire Stick Max on that TV.

And of course both have UHD players connected to them for when I want to watch something with great quality.

I’m actually fed up of this now. They need to keep their mouths shut until everything is 100% ready.
