That sounds good. As long as you have someplace to watch the movie where you are dead center of the TV and center channel speaker, you should be fine.

Just make sure you have the same length between you and each front speaker. And also an equal(or close to equal as possible) between the Surround Speakers as well.

Good morning Mike!

I like the new layout, although if possible, I would move the side table on the other side of the bed. This will position your bed in line with the AV shelf, and also aid in positoning for your rears. You also have the added benefit of being able to make your bed properly! LOL!

I understand by doing this, it will tighten the space between the end of your bed and your desk. This may be a problem, as I don't know if your drawing is close to scale.

Good Morning John!

Yes, I have never been able to make my bed while it was in the corner. Besides, everytime i did make it, It never stayed on. I jsut gave up on it. The fact that I have a king bed Makes things alot harder because it less space to work with. I will try to keep the bed in middle to start with. It will help with the Speaker repostions as well.

With speaker wire like this it wont make any difference at all. There will not be any difference in sound or anything else.

In fact if you have a few extra dollars and can get a spool of Speaker Wire from MonoPrice I would use it to re-wire all your speakers.

Because the one thing you do want is to make sure the speaker wire to your front right and left speakers are the same exact length from end to end.
And then to make sure the the speaker wire to your surrounds are the same exact length from end to end as well.

Even if that means using 2 different brands of wire, having the lengths equal for the front speakers. And having the two different wires for the surrounds the same length,is the most important thing to look at.

You could always take the wire to your surrounds and cut it to the same lengths and use it for your front speakers. And if you have to go to Wal Mart or Radio Shack and get a run of cable for under $10.00 and cut 2 runs of wire an equal length for use by your surrounds.

I am not even sure How much i will Need. I think I bought a 100 ft spool the first time. Now that i plan on running the wire along the floor to better hide, I will need much more. I may have to buy a 300ft spool. But if i do, should I get a 14awg or 12awg?

I used a little less then a 100ft spool for a 7 speaker system. And that was also cutting lengths to allow them to go around the room.

I dont see where you should need that much cable.

If you have a 12 ft run of wire to each front speaker and then a 10 ft run to your center channel, thats 34 feet.

If you center your bed and have your surround speakers on each side.Running the 2 speaker wires from your receiver, along the front wall to help hide it and keep it out of the way. I would think (2) speaker wires of 32 feet each should be more then long enough to hide and allow for slack and the height of your surrounds and receiver.

So if you use ALL NEW wire, a 100 foot spool of cable will be more then enough for a 5 speaker setup easily. And that is with equal lengths for the fronts, the surrounds,as well as hiding the surround wires as well.

And you could use 16 gage wire without any problems. But if moving up to 14 gage wont be a burdon financially, then 14 gage wire would be a Great Choice.

Grr. According to the shipping map they have, It would take four days to get here on regular shipping. I'm going for the two day shipping. I would like to have my 5.1 system back before the weekend.

Gotcha!
Yeah I would go ahead and cut your front speaker wires to 10ft to 12ft.
That way when you upgrade your front speakers you dont have to worry about cutting new wire.

Because once you get the Monitor 30's all the way to the Floorstanding Speakers having the cables at 12 ft already will mean you wont have to make any changes to your speaker wire.

So I would go ahead and add a few extra feet to your front wires just for your future front speaker upgrades.

You could always go someplace local to get the wire the same day for basically the same price.
