I don't how to put this across without being offensive and basically ripping MS to shreds, but I will try anyway. Two points in one day can't be that bad, can it!

Well where do I start.

1. MS corporate culture is such that they don't care about what they say about other companies, in fact the more you badmouth them the better in some cases. Anyone who has ever had to deal with them in any professional sense will know this.

2. Kind of linked to one, it doesn't matter if Amir uses his real name because of that. If I made the post that I did earlier in any sort of official sense for where I work I would have got a ticking off for losing my cool. If I said even half the stuff I do about my competitors which Amir has said about BD I would get a sever telling off for putting the company's reputation in danger. I would also be called into a swift meeting with company lawyers telling me not to do anything like that again, it could lead to unwanted law suits or unwanted attention.

3. pg didn't leave AVS because of the rule change, it was because of people believing Amir's gospel over his word on matters pertaining to BD.

4. Amir would never leave this place, any changes he asked for would be made so he would come back. When Amir threatens to leave because of the lack of discussion we magically get an "Insiders Tracking Thread". This really is Amir's playground and we are only allowed to play because he says so.

Maybe they are just collecting evidence..

Amir is screwed.
Don't worry thought, Amir and other M$ rifraff get free reign. The rules don't apply to them.

You guys beat me, I posted this in the Rant thread.

Credit to AVS for doing this.

Will it actually stop Amir though? Will he protest? Will the rule remain in effect?

Again, credit to AVS for implementing this (overdue) rule.

I agree. I'm a bit surprised, and therefore a bit impressed that they took this step. That was my main complaint - that people were allowed to spin the other guy's format w/o being held accountable.

I'll give credit if they stand by that rule and enforce fairly for all sides.

My observation was that BD - talk & paid - rarely commented on HD-DVD, and then only when they'd had it up to their eyeballs.

I totally agree.

I'm talking about them actually enforcing it against the MS and HD-DVD people that have had nonstop free run around there for at least two years now.

Absolutely!

Correct me if I am wrong, but it appears that they deleted Amir's statement regarding BD's should be prices at $100 to $200 per disc? I think there were some legal implications going on here, and AVS certainly can't afford to get involved in that, thus the reason for the new rule.

I would have thought so too. Credit to AVS though, it will go a little way to stopping the rot.

I've been suggesting that rule for some time. Should be interesting to watch. Like a bad politician, most of the Microsoft guys were like politicians who are most interested in their opposition and in what they're against rather than promoting their own.

EDIT: Oops, meant that for the insiders commentary thread.

I also wonder if they realized that allowing Amir to constantly make wild accusations against BD (20% yields, cost $100-$200 per disc) was the main reason Paidgeek et al left, and this played a role in implementing the new rule?

Nope, that post is still there.

I wonder if that thread will be reopened?

I was thinking the same thing. Since when did the AVS forum rules apply to anyone from MS?

I finally had enough and reported a couple of posts from the usual yahoos who were saying Paid couldn't "stand the heat" or didn't like to be "challenged on his vague answers," crap like that. Paid was the consummate professional over there and it would be a MUCH better place if ALL insiders followed his example.

I love Paid's retort in the Insider's Thread: "beyond ridiculous" he says.

I'm a nuetral format guy, and I would like some evidence about Amir and his lies from a reliable source and not someone who is an insider on the other side. Come on guys. You are posting on BLU-RAY.com!!!! At least AVS pretends to be nuetral, and why couldn't you back up any statements on the AVS side. From a bystanders viewpoint, you guys couldn't take the heat. I would rather have a heated debate with point and counterpoint than something so one-sided as here. I'll probably be deleted anyways.
