I've figured out who Penton-Man is. Jim Carrey played him in Batman 3.

dont worry. we're all in the same boat. im going nuts just like you patience is key. when there's news to report, we will hear it. a rumor is a rumor until it's a headline. i for one am choosing to believe nothing til josh posts it on the front page. for now, we should keep buying blu-rays (esp. warner) and continue educating as many people as we can. word.

I honestly don't think you will be hearing anything today. Perhaps Monday there may be something, but I don't think it will be anything earth shattering. One can only be patient and hope for the best.

Well at least there are a few people over at AVS that seem to know what there talking about.

Posted from garman:

"I really don't see any of these being the lesser format. Its about money, both Companies want a new medium for the next 10 years because they will make a ton of money on the Pat. alone. I also agree with you I would love to see LOTR on Blu-Ray or HD-DVD, but the extended cuts would most like do better on Blu-Ray because of there size. DVD Forum meaning Toshiba doesn't want to loose the revenue it is getting from DVD sales. But it doesn't matter DVD sales are being impacted and they still will be if HD-DVD wins, it just means the money is coming from another source for Toshiba.

Vatson: No, I think it would be the other way around.... Blu-Ray sales and marketing have been pulling it ahead in sales and now there selling more hardware. With more hardware manufactures on board with Blu-Ray, Pioneer/Sony/Panasonic/Denon/LG etc... consumers have more of a choice on what units to buy. With Toshiba and Onkyo(a toshiba unit) different label and a couple of multiplayers I don't think with studios at a neutral stance would swing things Toshibas way. Now if they keep on paying off more studios, it might work...."

Somehow this doesn't feel like a normal Friday.

Also everything seems to have gotten very quiet.

I can make one relevant comment here:
I read a TV Guide interview with some network execs regarding their HD plans a few years ago. One result was that HD quality was just good enough that they made the decision to switch filming their "Movie of the Week" to 35mm from 16mm.

And yet, you can pay a studio to stop making discs for those machines?
No, you can do what they did and "invest" in other things, and "suggest" that they do that

It's a loophole that must be closed

I agree. I think he is just saying that he is leaving the office and has plans for the weekend. I don't think it was meant as code for anything.

The lies and bullshit he spewed were astounding. He spent weeks hounding Talkstr8 ("Hey Bill. When are you going to come clean that you work for Sun, Bill?") after Talk's repeated denials that he was who Amir claimed he was. The A-man simply would not let that go. Anyone who bothered Amir that much over there would be banned.

It's sad. I still like the other forums there, but the HD section is so pro-HD DVd it's nauseating.
Amen.
Same story here.
Sadly, AVMS is a reality.
