The next gen version of this game will not be released until some time in 2021 at the earliest.
The game is playable on next gen platforms and will take advantage of faster load times and framerates but there will be no next gen features such as Ray Tracing until the next gen version is released. CDPR have said that the next gen version will be available free to anyone that buys the game on current gen so you can start playing the PS4 version on PS4 or on PS5 and get the PS5 version free when it's released. |

I think people need to appreciate that CDPR waiting to make a full and proper next gen upgrade is better for the game and they can learn a lot of lessons from feedback on the PC side to inform their RTRT implementation at the best performance balance.

Performance of the game will likely be the biggest noticeable difference between the PS4 vs PS5 versions of the game. PS4 is going to struggle is my guess of this graphics heavy game. Watch Dogs Legion is struggling with frame rate and has some constant screen tearing when moving the camera on the PS4 for the pS4 version, though that's getting a PS5 upgrade November 12th thankfully. No need to wait till 2021. But the PS4 Cyberpunk will hopefully get higher resolution and framerates as the main improvement aside from fast loading when installed on a PS5. Since I'm getting the disc, I'll test both the PS4 vs PS4 update on PS5 of this game on my PS4 and PS5. For PS4, I'm going to see how this game runs without any update at all. |

This console generation is the single greatest leap in terms of having top tier stuff such as the NVMe drives, the RTRT hardware and also the nature of specialised Audio engine hardware. Not to mention the DualSense hardware to amp immersion now we see how it can be actually used. Then there's the actual CPU & GPU set up which are far above and beyond anything you would have expected during the PS4 launch compared to PC equivalents for the price. That said, i want to temper things by saying that it is truly getting harder to keep pushing graphics up and up in the HD era onwards. 4K/120hz really does seem like it will be the true end goal for decades to come even if we could potentially do 8K/60fps, it might not give the same performance boost visibly for the cost and we may see 4K/60fps with far more bells and whistles being pushed for. |

When its released since we know we are not getting the full ps5 upgrade till next year,1 question. Will this play any better on ps5 than a ps4 pro? Will be using a ps5 and 4k tv.

I think CDPR said they will optimise a patch for the game on PS5 as apparently Sony has built it into the certification process all titles released after a certain date had to be compatible with PS5 and that probably means being able to use faster loading etc. CDPR will probably patch the game but again, launch and them confirming it is needed. |

Launch years for consoles tend to be pretty sparse in big AAA games I want to play, and I have a lot of time for gaming (don't really watch movies/shows anymore, don't have kids etc.), so I figure I'll get a playthrough in around launch and replay when the patch hits next year during some gap between new releases that interest me. |

They ****ed themselves up not releasing this earlier in the year now we have this headache of multiple versions I know people will say but it’s not ready I guarantee you on launch day bugs will still be all over the place in this game and now they will get a lot more shit for it because of the multiple delays
It’s not fair to say next gen versions are fine this game was built for the PS4 generation that version should be fine too obviously not runnning as smooth as it would on ps5 playback but still very playable Rockstar was smart and released gtav 2 months before the PS4 launched so they didn’t need to deal with a situation like this |

It just sounds like they were overly ambitious and ended up with a game that just doesn't run as well on current gen consoles.
People forget that CDPR is primarily a PC game developer, have their own PC game store and launcher (GOG) etc. Witcher 3 was their first big hit on consoles, and the PC version of that game was still far superior in performance. It's pretty clear they probably develop games for PC and then work to get them running OK on consoles. Seems like they probably overshot what the PS4 and Xbox One can handle--especially the weaker launch versions of those consoles vs. the Pro and One X--and have been struggling to get them where they need to be to review well and make fans happy. They are also a MUCH smaller studio that Rockstar in terms of number of personnel, money at their disposal etc. so they aren't going to do things as well or fast as them. |

As for Witcher 3 running better on PC, do i really need to explain that concept to anybody? Consoles vs PC is a false comparison for many reasons. |

For studios like CDPR that focus on PC first, the console versions are more likely to have limitations and need patches to fix like with Witcher 3 did and the struggles they're apparently having with Cyberpunk on current consoles. For the console focused studios, the PC ports often have a ton of issues at launch (Arkham Knight and Control come to mind) and the improvements from the console version often aren't as great as in games developed for PC first. As you note, it's not a long term concern as they are good at keeping at their games and patching as needed to improve them. For me, there's no way I bother playing this on my PS4 Pro though. I don't think I can hold off until the next gen upgrade patch is out next year, but I'll hold off until I score a PS5 or XSX even if it takes a couple months as I want to at least experience the best current version of the game (aside from a topline PC as mine's old and would run it worse than PS5/XSX). |

Yeah, Watch Dogs Legion on PS4 has solid graphics, but the frame rate while riding bikes/driving is choppy feeling, and the screen tearing is a constant issue that kind of ruins the immersion of the game on PS4. I'm upgrading it for free with the PS5 upgrade on November 12th, and believing it'll fix those issues.
But yeah, the PS4 can offer amazing graphics, but performance is the issue as with Days Gone too. That game shows off impressive textures and detail, but it loads the game poorly and is choppy with the framerate many times, even with the giant update. It's being updated just for PS5 to address the concerns, offering 60 fps and 4K. Cyberpunk on PS4, I can imagine is going to have some frame rate issues. The graphics on this game are really intensive with all of the detail and effects going on. The PS4 update for play on a PS5 will help a bit I'm guess. |
