It helps that I am a total sucker for the 80s sounds and aesthetic, and well designed slipcovers. ![]() In case anyone else wants a copy of the L.E. but missed it at VinSyn, Grindhouse Video still has stock. ![]() |

I watched Alphabet City last night and highly enjoyed it! This film is oozing with ambiance, colors, and attitude! The soundtrack is INCREDIBLE!! The interview with Vincent Spano has some great stories about the production. I love this disc, great job FCE!
Does anyone know if the soundtrack was ever released on its own? |

Glad you enjoyed the film and our disc so much!
Unfortunately, the announced soundtrack LP never happened. None of the amazing music by Nile Rodgers has ever been officially released outside of the film. Quote:

Who knows what will happen, since the bigger companies are moving more towards SVOD. However, I suspect in order to financially stay afloat they will be completely cutting or reducing their home video units, which could mean the doors for licencing deals will open up further.

Yes, all makes sense. We’ll see. WB, as we know, has essentially shuttered Warner Archive, at least where full-time staff is concerned. Then again, we see studios like Par revamping and relaunching their packaged media, probably not unrelated to COVID.

I wonder if this will be like Elvira where they released it in the UK and then about 18 months later they released it in the US. Really don't like that as I have to decide to buy the UK edition now or wait for the domestic release that may not even happen. I'm region free but I prefer to have the US edition. To get back on topic all Fun City releases as far as the eye can see are day one purchases. That's an easy decision ![]() |

Not in the slightest. Try and stop me and I'll buy two of each
![]() If only I knew people that liked film. I'd make them buy all of them too. Instead, I just try to randomly bug strangers on the internet to get them. Haha Last edited by repulsed; 02-26-2021 at 10:11 PM. |

The Arrow release of OVER THE EDGE is UK only, as of now. So, perhaps some other label has it in the US. Perhaps:
Warner Archives? Criterion? Shout Factory? Fun City? |

Unlike Warners, Paramount didn't go through major management changes (as of yet) with the CBS/Viacom merger. Their management were reluctant to release any more back catalog output on BD (due to perceived poor sales from the 2011-2014 flashbacks) until they saw the sales numbers Criterion and Shout were generating with the recent big licence pickups.

Yeah, I don't have any inside information on Paramount's thought process; sounds like you do. I only know that Blu sales have generally been healthy / healthier during this strange year when people have been forced to do more home viewing.

Warner only has US rights to Over The Edge (a pickup by Orion during the joint venture with Warner Bros), while overseas distribution went through different companies. Currently, international rights are split between MGM (who owns the rest of the Orion catalog and name) and what remains of the films producers. Since Arrow hasn't had an active MGM deal in a while, I suspect the producers themselves control UK rights and that's where they got their licence from. I imagine ether Shout, Criterion, or WA will put out their own US release and restoration in the future.
