If your just a fan of the final product - you wouldn't

If you like to follow the production of the movies - because one is filming and one is casting and about to begin filming.

ive been excited for Thor ever since it was officially announced. the whole future of marvel movies is exciting to me, the first two were so awesome i cant wait to see it all come together. im more excited for Thor than pretty much any other movie in production right now and i was never really a fan of Thor comics. the film just has so much potential, an incredibly talented director and a wide range of great actors involved. i cant wait to see the first set photo, poster, teaser or whatever, its been so hush hush so far..

I'm not a fan boy in the least, never been into comics. I just feel like getting excited a year and half before a films release is just pointless to someone like me. You spend years waiting for a 2 hour movie, that could suck and what was all the excitement for?

I've never read a comic in my life....but I love the cartoons (well some of them) and the movies based off of them

I follow the production of a bunch of movies I think I will like (and it doesn't always turn out to be one I actually like), but that's just something I like to do.

Liam Hemsworth tells AccessHollywood.com’s Laura Saltman what is was like battling with his brother Chris for the role of Thor in the upcoming film. But was there any bad blood after Chris landed the role?

Liam Hemsworth, brother of Thor's lead, Chris Hemsworth, screen-tested for the role of as well. At the Sundance Film Festival, Access Hollywood had the chance to speak with Liam, who can soon be seen alongside Miley Cyrus in The Last Song.
Click the link for the video clip. Pretty interesting stuff IMO. I wonder if Liam will be playing a Marvel character at some point, and if so, who he would portray.

J. Michael Straczynski will appear in his beloved Thor universe on screen!

If you have been reading the recent Thor runs by Marvel then you know how amazing J. Michael Straczynski is. His solicitation on Thor made many fans rediscover their love of the character. He was definitely the reason Thor received positive reviews and awards.

According to WorstPreviews, he will have a part in the film. JMS even posted on his Facebook page on his cameo.

"I did a cameo on the new 'Thor' movie," he said. "It was supposed to be just a ten second deal, but director Kenneth Branagh decided (against the evidence) that I can act, so he kept putting me in more bits. We'll see what ends up on the cutting room floor, but it was a lot of fun."

When asked for more details, Straczynski replied: "I can't comment on the role or anything specific to the story or characters out of deference to the production. All I can say is that it was something drawn from my tenure writing the Thor comic."

Thanks to WorstPreviews for providing us with this great piece of Thor news.
Thor is undoubtedly going to win CBM champion of 2011.
Not huge or groundbreaking news, but for anyone who has read the comics, I say good for him to be allowed to participate in the movie, especially after his interpretations of Thor in the comic book universe.

Of all the white guys I have seen on screen and in person... Australians seem to be the most handsome. They have a very unique look that I really like.

I can see why they are getting all these Hollywood roles and taking them from the American guys.

Default Costume designer talks 'heightened realism' of Kenneth Branagh's Thor

Quote:
BRINGING Thor to the big screen must be quite a challenge for director Kenneth Branagh and his team, especially as the Norse thunder god comes to a real-world setting on Earth for much of the film.

How do you make it work? How do you make it believable?

The film is based on Marvel's comic books, where exaggerated body proportions, colourful costumes and fantastical beings are part and parcel of that medium.

With no images or trailers at this early stage, fans are pondering how Thor and the other gods of Asgard will look and which version of the character will be chosen from the decades of comics. The fan-made poster here depicts one possible vision for the movie.

Costume designer Deborah Ambrosino was able to shed a little light on the approach being taken for the Marvel Studios release, which is due out in May 2011.

In an article on the Costume Designers' Guild website, Ambrosino described the project as "strangely enough, very theatrical."

She said: "There is a lot of fantasy in the different worlds that Thor lives in. The characters that populate that world are fantastical but not superheroes, which is great... there is a heightened realism."

Ambrosino added that she was using her metalsmithing knowledge to create armour and jewellery, in addition to some millinery and leatherwork.

Some of her previous film projects include Avatar, Transformers and Alice in Wonderland, so she's reassuringly familiar with bringing fantasy worlds to life.

Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has always been confident we are in for an amazing thrill-ride on the big-screen with Thor.

He spoke in January - before filming started - about the character designs for the film, telling Marvel's website: "We've done some costume tests and watching the Asgardians walk onto the sound stage takes me back to that first time I saw the X-Men on the set all together in Toronto. Only it was unlike anything we've ever put on film before!

"It's great to be starting the next decade in such an exciting way just as we did last decade. We're really redefining the comic book genre and what a Marvel movie can be. It's going to be great."

Actor Joseph Gatt - whose role hasn't been revealed but is likely to be superhuman warrior Skurge the Executioner - previously praised the film's "amazing costumes" and said: "The designers have done an extraordinary job at maintaining the traditional Marvel looks all the fans are expecting, but adding their own new style."

Here you go. Check out this video where he talks about the costume. You only see his face, but he has that thicker look to him. Just compare how he looks now to when he was in Star Trek

He says they're 3/4 through filming

Kinda hard to tell, but he looks to be a pretty good size.

I hope we can get a teaser by Comic Con

Anyone know if they'll be a Thor panel there this year like there was for Iron Man 2 last year?

I would imagine that the promotional photos either have already been taken or will be taken before filming wraps. As to when they'll start to stream out, it's anyone's guess.

They could put a teaser trailer on Iron Man 2, but I doubt they will. Wouldn't that be cool though?
