Good music!

[Show spoiler]Some old rock and roll, and rockabilly.

I really like the tunes he does with Imelda May.

Cannot have rockabilly without Brian Setzer.

Yes, I've got that one on DVD. I don't like it near as much as Ronnie Scott's, but it's pretty cool.

Thanks for that Tommy. I'll check it out a little later.

It's mostly like late 50's rockabilly type music.
Ronnie Scott's is the best! One of my top three BDs!

Hello Fellers.

I just sold my theatrical version and picked up the extended edition today.

It's movie time.

How was it? The extra footage any good?

The only thing that I can think of is that ironically some "quality control" guy was inspecting random discs at the factory and scratched and smudged mine while checking it.

It played fine, but I tried to exchange it at Best Buy today for a pristine copy and although their computer showed that they had two in stock, we couldn't find any copies anywhere, and they even looked in the back(or went for a smoke ) for about ten minutes. They checked another local Best Buy's inventory and it showed that they had one in stock, so I drove to that store only to go through the same exact thing again.

It's not really that big of a deal since the disc did play fine, but when I buy a new disc, I expect it to not be scratched and smudged. The store is only about three miles from me, so I'll be checking back for another copy over the next few days.

Although the extended version only adds about 15 extra minutes, I really liked the little added bits throughout the story and thought it added to the overall quality of the film for me. Since it's spread out in little bits, it actually felt like more than 15 minutes were added.

It's kind of funny that Ken Brown's review of the actual movie on this site is half a point lower for the extended version than for the theatrical (3.5 vs 4 respectively).

I haven't got around to watching any of the special features yet, but including the commentary, it has about 12 1/2 hours of bonus material and if they're even half as good as the LotR EE features, then they'll be amazing. 99% of the time I never watch any bonus features, as I would just rather be watching another film, but as much as Peter Jackson can futz up the original story here and there, he has always gone way above and beyond with his Middle-earth extras.

What's hoppin', Frogger?

Lol. I've experienced the Best Buy shuffle many times myself. I have the regular Hobbit version I still haven't watched yet. Think I'll sell mine and get the extended edition too. I should have it watched by the time Smaug is on blu.

Howdy Wabbler.

They finally got some more Hobbit extended BDs at my local Best Buy. I went by right after work today and told the customer service guy what happened and he politely opened the new one to let me inspect it, but then for some unknown reason after I said it looked great, the freakin' jackass took his thumb and started digging at the new flawless disc like he was cleaning it or something with the pad of his thumb!

I almost asked if I could pick out another one that he hadn't molested with his butt-scratching thumb, but I figured that at least it wasn't scratched up like the first one, and he did appear to be trying to be helpful.

I guess I can wipe his KFC grease and butt-juiced thumb prints off, so I'm just happy to have a non-scratched replacement.

Yeah im also a bit OCD about how the discs are taken out of the covers. i've noticed an employee almost snapping a disc he was to inspect for me in two just because he wanted it out of the bluray cover lock. Luckily it was the one i was returning back to the store that he did that to and not my replacement copy.

I really wish that none of the covers had that "fancy new impossible to push down lock" feature. Can't find a picture of it on google but a lot of blus have that particular circular push lock and i always have to place my cover halfway out from the table letting it bend the back of the cover very slightly while using all of my force pressing down on the lock and trying to snag it up without using my fingers and most importantly my nails to much on the outer edge of the disc..It's quite the creative artform and i really don't blame anyone believing you have to almost destroy the media just to get it out.

You paint the perfect mental image of a BBY employee. Glad it all worked out in the end. Now be honest, you hit the KFC drive-thru on the way home.

Thanks for stopping by, butt-juicers and hat-foggers.

This is my favorite Tom Waits song covered by The Ramones(also sang in the next to last Walking Dead episode):

I know exactly what you mean, but this professional jackass was just using his thumb as a cleaner. He would've been dumbfounded by a locking hub, which even dumbfounds me sometimes.

Actually, I ordered the new boneless two-piece and a side, with a biscuit for $3.99 yesterday, and it was good. I swear to God.

That's the same one I got, but I'm surprised that you didn't get the steelbook. I guess because the Best Buy steelbook doesn't come with the 2D disc?

The outer box is embossed with raised figuring on the front and back and has it's own outer picture of the cover imbedded in the sleeve. I thought it was just a window to see through to the case cover, but it's a seperate(but the same) picture. It also has a black blu-ray case just like the LotR EE cases, and in it's outer box, it's the same height as the LotR EE boxset. I normally don't really care much one way or the other about packaging, but this one is really nice.
