Then, once Spielberg realized he didn't want to direct any more Jurassic sequels after TLW, he decided dinosaurs running amok on the mainland was too fun not to do himself, and incorporated it into his film via the San Diego sequence. This left the third installment aimless, without an obvious direction to go in for its premise/story, which is the root cause of the script issues with that film. How different things would be had they stuck to the original idea. Perhaps better? But I still love the San Diego sequence. ![]() Quote:

Hi, just want to confirm: the blu-rays included with these are the ancient blu-rays from over a decade ago and not new transfers, correct?
I know the 4K is the same, but just want to confirm that the regular blu disks aren't remastered and are still the older master versions. Say what you will about the 4K version of the original Jurassic Park, but it is LEAGUES better than that horrific DVD-era master used on the blu. Thanks! |

What's the best bluray to own of the film? Is the bluray that's included good enough?

There is no single best one. The 4K transfer is the "best" for an official release and I prefer the 3D audio mix out of all the options due the best dynamics and less excessive compression/limiting. I just came across what is supposedly DTS Cinema mix and in comparison to the other mixes that could indeed be the case. That version requires a gain increase of 6-10dbs for the LFE. The 10db increase works quite well and is similar to the DVD DTS mix but with greater clarity and precision. |

That aspect of the BD logo covers I like better, and what makes it most baffling is technically the slips are embossed, just it’s only the 4K banner across the top.

Received my copies from Amazon today - all with rather scuffed up slipcovers. I'll tell ya' - deciding not to save slipcovers was one of the best decisions of my collecting career. In to the trash, and one less thing to obsess over.

Curious what some may say, but I’d definitely suggest regardless ordering them all at once, as you’ll be most likely to get a box then, especially if doing all the JP and Hitchcock titles at once.

I picked up JP 1 and 4 last night from walmart. I was surprised they were only 20 CAD each. I need to go back and see if they have 2 and 3. I enjoyed JP 3 a lot.
I liked all the JP movies actually. So ill try to grab all of them in 4K including fallen kingdom I have JP 1 , 4 and 5 in 3D as well. |

For what it’s worth Lost World, before the script was redone to add the San Diego sequence, was supposed to use a raptor for its logo. Ultimately I get the change for 3, since it created a consistency across all 6 logos, but it still bothers me the original is basically just swept under a rug. Maybe they’ll revisit changing the featured Dino again for JP7.

I recently rewatched the JP 4K transfer and I have to agree, it could have been worse. There was less DNR than I remember. That being said, the horrible black levels and lack of meaningful HDR once again stood out to me on my family's OLED...

If you pre-order, you are most likely to get a box. Anything that ships from the main online order fulfillment warehouse comes in a box or a cardboard mailer. Things only go downhill if you order something that gets shipped from a store (which still could happen with a pre-order, but rarely). They use bubble mailers. You still can get a box from the store if ordering multiple movies. This week, I had a TON of stuff from BullMoose with slips. All of the Jurassic Park movies and all the single Hitchcock releases. The JP movies I really did rebuy for the slips and to not have to rely on the book-packaging I previously had. I would say all of those slips arrived in near perfect condition. Almost all of the JP slips had some issue, but not due to Bullmoose. It was mainly the varying severity of the art having small spots where the metallic silver finish is seen so you have silver dots popping up. Seems to be common and almost unavoidable. Mainly looked the worst on the first movie with the solid black background. I order almost everything from Bullmoose and it has cut my aggravation way down. Even when I have a slip arrive with an issue that bugs me and head out to a retailer to see if there is something better, almost none of them are. Slips at retailers are often not great for anyone looking for perfect (which is probably 2 people). |
