Adherence to source material is never something I really care about with film. Even with stuff I read before the movie was made (Jurassic Park, endless Stephen King novels, League of Extraordinary Gentleman, hopefully Dark Tower soon) all I really cared about in the end was if it was a good movie. That's me though, these forums have taught me many of you comic book fans feel... differently. |

The thing is Marvel already have five years worth of movies on their plate, shoehorning in the F4 just for fan-service into an already established game plan for their narrative would be hard work and very difficult, they'd have to introduce them in either their own standalone, which would push back production of their new characters like Black Panther or Ms Marvel and maybe even push back Infinity War which is already being written or they'd have to somehow introduce and develop them in Infinity War. Considering how complex their origins are in both emotional and physical terms. explaining how they get their powers terms are that would be difficult, then after that bringing them together as a team? They couldn't do that in infinity war, they'd be rushed and not believable and just seem like a shoehorned thing shoved in because some vocal fans wanted them in the film no matter what it did to the narrative or their character progression, you'd need an Avengers length feature to introduce and develop the F4 in the MCU, even more so with the X-men who have a roster that far outweighs the avengers in size and deep and troubled psychological and political story that would require a lot of development. Some may not agree but I think that the X-men films are great comic book films and Fox did very well with the X-men Franchise minus a couple of missteps. They fully developed all their main players, they dealt with the emotional side of the characters, what grounds them their struggle of conscience, why should they help those who hate and fear them, those who see them as monsters, what makes humanity redeemable? That whole idea of coping with powers but also being in a minority and yet using their differences to protect a world of people who brand them as evolutionary mistakes, being the better man, the guiding force to humanity's change. They study both sides of that coin, those who protect in hope that humanity can change and those who have given up on humanity and believe that they are the past and not the future. Plus those movies are responsible for one of the most compelling, tragic, iconic and developed CBM movie villains of all time in Sir Ian Mckellen and Michael Fassbender's "Magneto" his insecurities, his superiority complex, the way that tragically and ironically his experiences at the hands of the Nazis as a Jewish Mutant in the 1940s have shaped him into a man who whilst championing the rights of the minority contemplates the genocide of the majority. Plus his sheer personality. The wit, the charm, the intelligence, the rage, the slyness and cunning making him both a pleasure to watch as a villain and one that you can actually connect to on an emotional level. If this new F4 can over time if they make more, do nearly as well as X-men then I think we will have nothing to worry about. Don't forget when the original X-men film came out beforehand many saw it as a film doomed for box office and critical failure, a young in-experienced director handling one of the largest comic book franchises in Marvel? With dark costumes compared to the comics and a wolverine actor who has barely been in any films rather than a big name? To say people weren't exactly optimistic would be an understatement, still the faithful and even some of the skeptics went to see the film. Fast forward to 2015 and fans are devastated to see Hugh Jackman leave wolverine behind, the X-men Franchise has never been more successful, with last year's DOFP touring the world through millions of screaming fans and becoming one of the highest grossers of last year and one of the best critically reviewed films of last year. Just think in 15 years time will that be the same case with F4? It may seem unlikely now, but it was unlikely in 2000 with X-men... |

Ah yes! And that is why they're doing a "proper" Deadpool now. I mean, Marvel has never made a deviation before that the "fanboys" hated, right? *coughcough*Mandarin*coughcough*
