Looks great, but now I'm going to be disappointed if my copy doesn't come with a pair of cool red polo socks.

Wow. We're only eight days away from this now. This box has been on my wish list for so long that I just don't think I'm going to believe it truly exists until I'm holding it in my hands. lol

That's basically how I feel. That's also how I felt with Mulholland Dr. too.

I absolutely adore this series. One of beautiful things about these films, in particular, as while they are all connected and the latter two films are both sequels, they each have their own tone and voice.

If I may offer a recommendation to those experiencing this trilogy for the first time. While it may be tempting to marathon them, I'd advise giving each film some breathing room before moving on to the next...at least a week, if not longer. I think allowing a passage of time will enhance your appreciation for the films, and at least somewhat approximate, if in spirit only, the considerable passage of time for the characters that occurs between the chapters. Time itself is an important part of these films, and giving yourself some before catching up with Jesse & Celine I think will make their relationship resonate more.

Either way, you're in for a cinematic treat...enjoy!

I'm really hoping they will continue "The Before Trilogy" with "The After Trilogy". It would even make thematic sense when you think about it.

Before Sunrise: before the epiphany of first true love
Before Sunset: before you commit fully to a life you don't want...
Before Midnight: before a relationship's darkest hour
After Sunrise: after rekindling romance later in life
After Sunset: after age begins catching up and you settle down together
After Midnight: after (or during) dealing with one of you passing away

It would be a life-long picture of love at all stages this way. The last chapter would be sad, but it's something that most of us are inevitably going to have to deal with some day.

Side note - only 6 days now. I can hardly believe it...

Well, if the actors and Linklater are still alive in 20-30 years, that is a good idea. :P Bergman did some version of that with Sarabande and the stars of Scenes from a Marriage.

Linklater would be 80, Hawke 70, and Delpy 71 for the sixth installment if they continued with these every nine years. They'd be getting up there, but it's entirely possible.

Who's worried about the actors still being alive in 20-30 years?

I'm worried about ME still being alive in 20-30 years!

Set is available on Criterion's website to buy now, could this mean a flash sale is coming soon?

The artwork on the packaging looks great. However, the digipacks look a bit cheap to me. I wish the inside spine was colored and that the case for Sunrise wasn't thicker than the others. The booklet can go in the slipbox by itself. Doesn't need to be put into a digipack where it will just fall out whenever the movie is removed. Still looking forward to getting this set. Especially since I got the $40 price locked in at Amazon from way back.

Default digipacks..

I dont like digipacks, I will remake three covers to be used with standard Amaray cases.
