Oh, don't say that. I still count that as the biggest DNR disaster - considering the film, source material, studio etc - to have ever befallen Blu-ray Disc. This is the 55th anniversary year of the movie and there's been nada as regards to any kind of remaster on disc, so 2022 might be the next big anniversary release - unless they do something to tie in with the 75th anniversary of D-Day itself in 2019.

Did The Longest Day ever receive a subsequent remaster to correct this?

"Highest Recommendation"? What's else is new. I guess you reviewers have to say that to help promote the format, but let be honest, how many people have a 140-inch projector, Dolby Atmos/DTS-X receiver, and a dedicated home theatre? Ultimately it all a waste of money. I have being collecting movies since the late 80's - from VHS tape to Laser Disc/Video CD, to DVD, to Blu-ray, and now 4K UHD. How much "Revelation" you can get? A few nasal hairs, perhaps? It is the same movie after all.
I am keeping both the original released and Supreme Cinema Series Blu-ray, and skipped this 4K released (and most 4K released of old films). 4K UHD only for new movies, but will opt for 3D if given that option. |

It's one thing if you watched it and said "that reviewer is full of it", but quite another if you've never even seen it and still dispute that they gave the review in good faith. BTW, the UHD is damn good. |

As someone who has owned his share of projectors I can say you don't need a 140" screen to enjoy this format. Yes having a dedicated theatre enhances the experience and so does the new audio formats but living room environment can also be satisfying, it's all subjective. You may feel it's a waste of money and I respect that because again it's subjective. I personally love my home theatre hobby and cinema so it's typically where I spend my disposable income and gladly so. |

So what is going on with the framing? Is this supposed to be how it is? Why would you keep such a framing if this was not correct? Like the Blue film the master was made in this way and they don't want to go back? So now they sell all official releases with improper framing lol? Or is this the right framing?
I will search for some comparisons. http://ultrahd.highdefdigest.com/491...ahdbluray.html A much more fair review that says the differences from the bluray are pretty thin on smaller displays. You could probably say this about a lot of 4K. The differences are there though. Me, I think this film is hokey as hell, so I won't be paying anything for it. I cannot even believe it was chosen to get a 4K release. Last edited by Khronikos; 10-09-2017 at 04:44 AM. |
