So grain reduction and edge enhancement?

Ditto.

My ranking goes

Jurassic Park
Jurassic World
Jurassic Park 3
Jurassic Park 2

Let's see - I bought the DVD adventure pack, then I bought the stand alone DTS edition, then the bluray in 2011, then the 3D in 2014, then the round tin in 2016 when World came out, and now the 4K in two months.

SIX. Six. Well. Top 10 movie, it definitely merits it.

Hopefully we'll get a press release soon to clarify.
Looking at the packaging...while I know it is a mock-up...it doesn’t look like it can even fit JP3 and JW..only JP3. Makes me wonder if it’ll be two DigiBooks one for the original trilogy and one for JW 1 and 2 if it follows suit with the blu-ray set to have a slot for the new one.

I’m 31 and had it twice on vhs! Obviously I didn’t pay for it myself but I watched the first tape constantly until it got stuck in my grandparents’ vcr so my dad surprised me with a new one.

This makes me think of that bit in the MacCauley Caulkin film "My Girl."

I wish they would have added an extra slot for the newest JP coming out.

If they do I hope it’s better than the Men In Black one, I chose the standard edition over that pos.

There is a steelbook already coming out in Italy:

Maybe we'll get something similar here in the US.

I dislike the packaging. I already have them all on Blu, so I'll wait for individual releases.

I wonder why no filmmaker has yet wanted to try it. It made boat loads of money with JW. So, money isn't really an issue for them to rent Imax MSM cameras. Most newer screens are at least 1.89:1. There are quite a number of 1.43:1 film and laser screens available across the globe. But only Nolan seems to use them, mostly.

Rather than going for a higher/taller aspect ratio, they are going for a smaller aspect ratio with each new entry. Maybe the next one would be 2.55:1/2.75:1. Who knows?

You would have to protect the framing for at least 1.78:1, so not much different than the original Jurassic Park's 1.85:1 aspect ratio. They do the same thing with standard IMAX movies now because they'll be distributed on home video. That isn't going to work.

It isn't going to work? It will be a spectacularly immersive experience in the cinema. I'm talking about the theatrical experience, not home video. If Nolan can make the ratio work successfully both in 15/70 screens and at home, then the same applies for JP movies as well. Besides dinosaurs, there's also a lot of beautiful jungle imagery, aerial shots over mountains, canyons and rivers which would feel awesome in full-scale IMAX. They could also use another IMAX-friendly aspect ratio, which is 1.66:1.

Ron Howard's 'Apollo 13' IMAX version was projected in 1.66:1. That is not too different from 1.78:1. But in an IMAX screen it'll look very immersive. 'Star Trek Into darkness' and 'Prometheus' were both 1.66:1 in IMAX 3D (projected on 1.43:1 screens).

Framing is about compromises. You can't have everything. If you don't have a bunch of dead space at the top and bottom of the more square IMAX frame, it won't translate well to home video, which is now dominated by 1.78:1 ratio screens.

Even Dunkirk had the bulk of the action in the frame contained to a widescreen "safe" area. It's like when they soft matted for 1.85:1 flat movies using 35mm film.
