A fitting ending to the worst season of AI so far imo, Wife and I couldn't even bother watching after a few weeks in...

Talent ranged from Mediocre/good (Crystal, Lee, Mike and Siobhan) to downright terrible (most everybody else).

Wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I cant believe it!!!!! America got it right finally!!! Yes Crystal had the better final week easily over Lee and I was sure she was gonna win based on how America has been voting but Lee was the best contestant this year and the best overall so it was great to see the actual deserving winner win and see votes based on the overall performances and not just lastnight.

Good stuff Diesel as Lee was our favorite from the jump. The only thing we agreed on!

As for people thinking Lee will fade away......................I think not. I think he will become a big star and may even become the most successful guy contestant ever on the show..........yes even over Daultry but that maybe be pushing it haha.

Great ending to a great season. It was great seeing Janet again since she hasnt done much since Michael died. her new single is hot and I am gonna go download it along with Lee's new single!! Great season guys! Got Em!!

Time for Lee to do a cover of the full song for Lips of an Angel

I was really hoping he picked that for his first song of the night last night...but we got my second least favorite of his from the whole season (least favorite is Fireflies...I HATE that song).

I was disappointed that Paula was back and yet no Straight Up with Andrew Garcia. Wasted potential.

I watched a bit of the finale last night, the first time all season I'd watched the show, and the 2 finalists were horrible singers. I've watched the show off and on in prior seasons, and their voices were the type I'd expect to get eliminated before the top 10. I don't see either of the finalists becoming commercial successes long term.

For a show this popular you'd really expect bigger success. The show has only produced 2 winners that went on to huge success in Underwood and Kelly Clarkson, although Clarkson's third album flopped and last album wasn't a huge success. Ruben Studdard, Fantasia, Taylor Hicks were huge flops, and Jordin Sparks and David Cook weren't huge successes, although it's too early in their careers. The jury is still out on Kris Allen, but his first album hasn't sold very well. There have been some other successes from the show, most notably Chris Daughtry, and Jennifer Hudson has won an acting Oscar, but I would have expected more success.

To each is own as both of the finalist are great singers in my eyes! I think they can hold their own with any of the other winners. Maybe because u didnt get to watch them week in week out u didnt really get a feel of how good they were. Got Em!!

Here is a link to an interesting article in Forbes Magazine that lists the "Top-Earning Idols" the past 12 months (6/1/09 - 5/10). Interesting list; note that Kelly Pickler made over $7M the past 12 months: how far up the final ten list her year on AI did she finish? It can really pay to be on AI regardless where you finish if a singer can take advantage of the opportunity.

Congratulations to Lee DeWyze! I didn't like him at the beginning but he grew on me, and within the last month I knew he was going to win.

I know it's early but I saw that the new judges will be announced on Wednesday the 22nd. So might as well get the thread up and running now.

So far:

Randy Jackson is staying

Jennifer Lopez was in the running, then out, now she's apparently signed a one year deal.

Steven Tyler.....still rumored

That's all I got so far.

Its already in stone that they are going back to 3 judges and they are the 3 Meeklo already mentioned. Interesting to see how this next season does without Simon. I am glad that Kara and Ellen are gone so it may have been a cool trade off. Got Em!!

I've watched the show off and on in prior seasons, and their voices were the type I'd expect to get eliminated before the top 10.
