After stopping at my local Best Buy yesterday I discovered that they were completely sold out of PDP-5020FD's. The PDP-5020FD floor model was even removed from the wall and was sold to someone. Also the PDP-6020FD was completely sold out accept for the floor model. Best Buy wanted around $3,600 for the PDP-6020FD floor model (don't remember the exact price on the floor model). The Best Buy employee informed me that all the stores in the entire state were out of PDP-5020FD's, and PDP-6020FD's and they would not be getting anymore. Of course some stores around the country might have one or two.
Any idea if the New York City BBs have any 5020s in stock?

I do not know if any Best Buy New York stores have any PDP-5020FD displays in stock. You would need to call them or stop in to see. I do not have access to Best Buy inventory. A Best Buy employee I was talking to was kind enough to check a few states.

Best Buy appears to have the PDP-5020FD available only as a mail order option for $3,499.99. List price on the display is $4,000.

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8869147&st=pdp-5020fd&lp=1&type=product&cp=1&id=1210290068342

The Pioneer PDP-6020FD 60 inch original list price is $5,500. Best Buy has that for only $3,799.99 with store pickup available still in some states.

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8867871&st=pdp-6020fd&lp=1&type=product&cp=1&id=1210290067556

Currently the 50 inch PRO-111FD that lists for $5,000 that Best Buy sells for $2,999.98 is a better value and better quality then the PDP-5020FD.

Update on the Pioneer tabletop stands and Ultra thin wall mount situation for the PRO-141FD, PRO-101FD, KRP-500M, and KRP-600M

I checked the Pioneer USA website. The KRP-TS01 and KRP-TS02 table top stands are both listed as Temporarily out of stock with an ETA of over 60 days. It is rumored that Pioneer might manufactory more stands. The plasma displays were assembled in the United States using both USA and imported parts. The USA plasma factory closed in April. The KRP-TS01 stands were made in China so Pioneer might have more stands made. Hopefully Pioneer decides to make more stands.

Now you can purchase the individual parts for the stands on the Pioneer website to create a stand but Pioneer has some of the key stand parts on backorder.

Links to purchase stands

As mentioned before many dealers are also out of stock on the Ultra thin Pioneer wall mounts which are required for those that want to wall mount the display. Currently Pioneer has the factory new Ultra thin wall mounts in stock for both the 60 inch and 50 inch display. They are charging full list price. The KRP-WM01 60 inch wall mount is $350. And the KRP-WM02 50 inch wall mount is $200.

I'd go with either of the following from your collection...

Baraka
I Robot
King Kong
Kung Fu Panda

I'd go with Kung Fu Panda. It's got to be the best PQ I've ever seen and is ranked at #1 of tier 0 list at AVS (and those guys are picky).

Yup same here...Kung Fu Panda looks unreal on Kuros...the first time I watched it on the 111 I got misty eyed lol! I invariably put it on when I get people over to show off my lil ol TV

ya i agree with kung fu panda, i think visually the best scene in the movie is when ogway floats away and thousands of flower petals twirl in the wind behind him, one of the most beautiful sequences i have ever seen.

Pioneer just got some 60 inch table top stands in stock today. 50 inch stands are still back ordered.

KRP-TS01

http://parts.pioneerelectronics.com/...Num=KRP%2DTS01

Also ABIT just got some 60 inch stands in stock today for $399 plus free shipping. That is a better value compared to buying from Pioneer directly.

These stands are going fast. ABIT just ran out of stock on the 60 inch stands. Pioneer currently still has the 60 inch stands in stock for now.

Congrats.

Just wanted to report that I did the firmware on my 5020 over the weekend and it went smoothly. Instructions said it would take 10 mins but it only took 5. It was worth it just to see the red blue & orange lights all on at the same time.

Default Digital tuner problem/question

Maybe a stupid question, but has anyone had trouble getting the digital tuner to work properly in a 5020? Out of curiousity I picked up an antenna. When I try to add a channel that is clearly visible (and shows as having 100% quality and more than 80% signal) it then tells me "there is no channel, please try again." I does it every time. If I use the auto add, it comes up with nothing, despite the government website saying I should get about 15 channels quite well, and the fact I've seen 2 or 3 while looking in the signal check.

I should point out my firmware is not updated, but not for lack of trying. I've tried many, many times and gotten nothing. I'm currently waiting for a Pioneer USB with the firmware to try again.

Could you guys help me out? I am looking to get rid of my DLP and get a plasma for my LR, I am interested in the Panny 58" V10 but no one has a solid street date so I have been researching the Pioneer 6020FD, I went to Pioneer's website and a few other places to compare specs between the 2 tv's but I cannot find static and dyn contrast ratios, also there is no info on the hz , 480,600 , I found a decent price that I would be willing to pay $3300 on eastcoasttvs.com. can any of you Kuro owners tell me why I should get the 6020FD over the panny 58V10? I keep hearing that the Kuro is the best plasma but how come there is no solid specs?

I prefer the Pioneer with its deeper blacks, 72HZ refresh for 1080p/24, and better ANSI contrast ratio. The Panasonic V10 58 inch and 65 inch are scheduled for a late June release (delays are always possible). All the V10 series will properly display 1080p/24 signals at 96HZ. There is also a 48HZ Panasonic flicker mode and 60HZ 3:2 pulldown judder mode for those that want to compare that mode to the film quality 96HZ mode.
Click on the following link for more info on the V10.

Try and find a Pioneer 600M if you can and then after that look for a 6020. If all else fails consider the Panasonic. This is my opinion. Never seen another TV that comes close to comparing with Pioneer products. I love the amazing black levels.

Thanks HD1080P for the article ,it was very good but I am now torn between the 58" V10 and the Pio 6020, is there any motion blur on the 6020? how come there isn't any specs on contrast ratio anywhere? I want to be able to compare the 2 sets because the Best Buy in my area doesn't have any Kuro models or V10s to look at so I basicly have to go off of specs and reviews on the web. the most I can spend is $3500, which set would you guys buy if you were me? As of now I have a 65" Mitsu Diamond DLP, will I notice a huge difference from that to one of these new plasmas?

I just looked at the 600M on amazon, I could probably get it for around $3000, one problem, It doesn't have any speakers and it only has 2 HDMI inputs , is that a newer model pioneer or is the 6020 the most recent?
