My guess is he has an all blu case collection and couldn't stand the eye sore from clear CC case sticking out. So some scissors and a few snips later we get a blu case criterion
![]() That being said, I much prefer the clear case for Criterions and there's no telling if some info was cut off on the back. |

I'm not a fan of what Shallow_ did with his cases either, but it's his collection and his right.
I personally love the classy clear Criterion cases though and wish all Blu-ray cases looked like that. |

The numbers on the side are not uniform art all anymore. Actually the entire spines are not uniform. Plus to switch them to worse cases when the Criterion ones are so nice. Not to mention the artwork that gets trimmed. No way to avoid cutting vital parts on most titles I'm assuming he doesn't keep Criterion separate either? Just these today. The DVD of Murder By Death is from Amazon, and Star Wars is from Walmart. I usually don't buy anything from Walmart at all, but it was on my way home and I enjoyed seeing the mini lithograph print inside. Very attractive packaging as well!
![]() ![]() Too bad Disney passed up the opportunity again to include the IMAX footage. If Guardians Of The Galaxy can get the 3D shifting ratios, why not Star Wars? It seems like a cheap move. |

To me Criterion embodies the the absolute worst about taste in movies, namely not having any. That they are acting like there is a 'right answer' when it comes to what what makes great Movies, and that they have taken upon themselves the right to decide this is (and should be to everyone I think) nothing less than insulting. To me there is no logic to someone liking all movies that Criterion releases, to me it is basing your own 'taste' on what critics say. I dont care what your taste is, just have your OWN taste. I had a coworker, and whenever I would recommend him a movie he would say that he needed to check the imdb rating before watching.. ![]() I love the idea of doing everything to present a movie the best possible way, I just think they release mostly the wrong movies when there are soo many amazing ones out there to choose from.. |

That's your opinion that they release the wrong movies. Criterion isn't for everyone. Mainly cinephiles and people who care to be exposed to all kinds of great films. And if you think they choose the wrong movies then you probably aren't the target audience and it seems you don't understand that for them to release a movie they first have to get the rights. So these amazing ones they have to choose from that they aren't that you mention if they are indeed good films then they either just haven't gotten to it yet or they can't get the rights for whatever reason. Also not sure how the two previous comments sparked you to talk about the amazing movies criterion puts out when all they were talking about were the cases. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Criterion releases movies they have acquired distribution rights for, I am sure there are plenty of movies they would like to get their hands on and give them the Criterion treatment but they are limited by the original proprietary studios.

No one is saying you have to blindly buy and watch every single release of theirs. I'm sure there are people who do this, but they're probably in the minority. What Criterion is cool for is exposing people to movies they might not have otherwise seen or heard of, restoring those movies so they can be viewed in the best possible manner, and lavishing them with love via custom artwork, new extras, booklets, etc. "Hey, I like film noir, or French movies from a certain period, or so-and-so director...let's see what Criterion has to offer." That is the point of Criterion. Without them, we may never have gotten some of these movies at all. Without them, there would be no Kino, StudioCanal, Cohen Media Group, and other boutique labels trying to release niche movies or older or forgotten classics. Keep all of that in mind. |
