$30!!,You didn't have an exclusive screening at John Carpenter's house did you fella?

Lol I saw someone complaining about the “sibling retcon”. You guys realize Carpenter came up with that in HII and always hated it right? Michael and Laurie were never intended to be brother and sister in the original.

Gotta say I’m shocked to see any love for H20. It feels like a direct to video version of Scream. Jesus those masks.

From what I understand, it’s a callback to Laurie dropping the knife in the first film.

I hope we don't get too many more movies like The Lords Of Salem, that imo was utter trash, and it's very rare to see any sort of Rob Zombie appreciation on a Halloween thread.

Heresy I tell you,heresy..that kind of sensible talk has no place on an internet movie discussion thread, now go and wash your mouth out with soap and water.

Zombie’s remake is indefensible. Look at the opening breakfast scene and Michael’s origin. Feels like a parody. I do like his sequel, though.

I have to be honest here I did quite enjoy both the Rob Zombie Halloween movies, the first one was always going to be a tough gig remaking one of the most iconic movies of all time, whereas the second one was free of any previous movies restraints, but still these movies are some of my guilty pleasures.

I do remember enjoying the first one at the cinema though.

I don't think anyone should really be upset about this movie. After all, it's a Halloween sequel and we can all agree Halloween 1978 is the best one. We've gone through 11 films and the first one is the best by miles. That should curb the excitement level. And all (except Season of the Witch) go down roughly the same plot path.

There will always be the few people who'll go the extreme saying it's the worst film, but really? A film franchise that includes Halloween Resurrection and Rob Zombie's Halloween 2...really? If I recall people on these forums were going on and on about RZ's Halloween 2 until this came out.

If anything, the new Halloween feels like an updated H20 in 2018 which I don't think is bad, but I don't think it's a brilliant new take either. Just another Halloween sequel. But an enjoyable piece of entertainment. And I'm happy Jamie Lee Curtis is back. I don't really know where this franchise will go after this, but judging from the multiple "reboot" or kickstarter sequels (H4,H20,RZH) in this franchise, they seem to f up the next one (H5,H8, RZH2).

Yeah, I liked that, too.
[Show spoiler] The mask reawakaned Michael and so the rotting jack-o-lantern is coming back to life, symbolizing this reawakening. I think it was correct to put the title sequence after the opening scene.

It was pretty much telling us the baton has been passed on. The PTSD, the fear, the loss of innocence, the realisation etc..

I thought RZ had balls to shoot H2 the way he did and it was Infinitely better than Ressurection but Lords Of Salem was one of the worst films of that particular year. Shockingly bad.

As for the new film, there was always going to be complaints because everyone has different ideas and the way some talk on here, you would think they were script writers and film makers themselves lol.
It’s locked in now and I for one, enjoyed it. Was it perfect? No, of course not. Was it better than the other sequels? Yep, in my opinion it was.

My thoughts exactly, the new movie is not perfect but it's a good stab at the genre imo,pun intended.

Not sure if this has been mentioned in the thread, but apparently
[Show spoiler] Jamie Lee Curtis did the voice of the baby in the crib.

I didn't find it stupid, but interesting. Though kind of pointless because Michael could always, you know...find another knife.

I still think after all these years, that the 2 Rob Zombie films make for a great double feature. No matter what version you choose to watch. That man had a vision, whether you like that or not. And technically these films are very well made.

As much flack as 4, 5, Curse of Michael Myers, H20, and Resurrection get, this one takes the cake.

There is no atmosphere. There are no scares. The acting is shite. The script is shite. The directing is shite. The cinematography is shite. Themes set up are squandered. The music is malignant and uninspired.

if you like this, reflect on your taste in horror movies.

This sounds and feels like any insanely ridiculous critical bashing to "X-Men: Apocalypse".

I give Zombie created for attempting to bring new mythology to the Halloween franchise. He had a vision, very much like Zack Snyder with his DC films; but somewhere along the lines of script to screen, it didn't quite hit the mark.

My only exposure to Rob Zombie's Halloween II was an isolated film score version of it on MTV late one night, must have been past 1am. It was edited of course, but had no commercial breaks and was only broadcasted once. As far as I know, that version of the film isn't available on any disc release.
