I just hope we don't start getting priced out of physical media. Like Alien: Romulans and Ashoka are both ridiculously priced imo considering the popularity of each.

on topic I enjoyed Moulin Rouge on Blu Ray last night and will see it on Broadway this Friday.

Then Saturday I will see David Gilmour in concert for most likely the final time. I have seen him with and without Pink Floyd many times over the years.

His Blu Ray release of Luck and Strange is getting a lot of playback in my theater recently.

Also listened to the 5.1 mix of Pink Floyd Meddle today. It's on the original release of the Early Years box set but it's hidden on the blu ray with no access from the menus. In the mood for lots of Pink Floyd on Blu Ray.

Hopefully Trick or Treat UHD arrives today from Amazon.

Just further to this topic, I recently watched my 4K of Invasion of the Bodysnatchers (70’s version)which was handled by FIM, and it looks and sounds sublime, apparently better than the U.S version.

The problem is bad packaging means the product itself could be damaged which could mean you need to watch a 3000 to 5000 min show in 1 to 4 weeks or risk just owning a defective set. Then you need to find replacement cases and for it to look good replacement art work for like 50 discs which adds cost and more importantly takes a fair amount of time. Even if your just going to rip them it could take a massive amount of time if you need to rip 100 discs in under a week to meet return requirements.

My recent Halloween viewing included the stunning UHD of DR TERROR'S HOUSE OF HORRORS (1965).. I was pleasantly surprised to see our recently departed Canadian Donald Sutherland holding is own with likes of Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee... I will have to revisit INVASION OF THE BODY SNATCHERS soon.

Nice, and another good film for sure.

I find that Bodysnatchers hers gets better every time I view it, and it looks fantastic. This time around. It earns it place next to The Thing on my shelves, both being the very best example of warranted paranoid horror.

In my home I'm outvoted 3 to 1 on our preference. I know we strive to keep politics out of these threads..but the stakes are just too high right now, so I can't help telling you all that I really hope that when all is said and done, MAINE opts to take this decision seriously and go with the simpler design for their state flag even though it is tearing my family apart..the wife and kids think they should keep the one they have now...

Other than this most important decision...I guess it'll be a slow news day..
Ha,Ha! My state went through this a few years ago. Our new flag looks pretty sharp I must say.

I watched Alien Romulus over the weekend, and while I enjoyed it, it's not a title I feel the need to add to my collection.

I'm worried about the pricing as well. Just look at Synapse's release of Trick or Treat. Yikes!

It's going up for sure. I guess I have to either get used to it or buy used copies.

Maybe I can buy from people who only want the virtual version so it's kind of still like new. This means watching the release dates for good timing.

I spent over 6 hours of Halloween, as seen here, attending my experimental monoclonal antibody drug trial. I wore orange and black just for the occasion, but did I get any candy? Nope, not one piece.

After far more effort than anyone should have to make,
[Show spoiler]I finally received delivery of my first dose of Amvuttra (Vutrisiran).

Amvuttra first dose 06 November 2024 sm.jpg

This single dose, required every three months, costs $143,000! I have a nurse scheduled to come to my home tomorrow to administer it. It is the most extravagant item to be found in my refrigerator.

This medication, a gene silencer, is the "new and improved" evolution of the medication Onpattro (Patisiran). I have been receiving Onpattro in 4.5 hour long infusions every three weeks in St. Louis for approx. the past year and a half.

The other nice thing about Amvuttra is that it does not require pre-treatment with four other drugs like was the case with Onpattro.

As far as being priced out of physical media, that's just Disney being Disney - adding a premium on their products. I do think it will drop down in price (Alien: Romulus) by the time it streets.

I watched the BDs of It Ends with US and AfrAId last night and they were incredibly mediocre. Good thing I didn't pay for them - they're review copies.

I've got the new UK BD import of Juggernaut and the Louis Feuillade BD set to get through next.

That's too bad. I am going to watch It Ends With Us tonight and will share my thoughts on it. I have a BD copy I borrowed from a friend.

I might be willing to pay a premium to see a movie that features Alien and Romulans. Mashing the Alien and Star Trek franchises together could have interesting results.

Yeah that's my good old typo/autocorrect messing up again. Either that or I'm getting dementia at age 37.

I would watch that too. Star Trek vs Alien.

Watched MY OLD ASS last night with the family...

We had no prior knowledge of the movie other than the fact that Aubrey Plaza was in it. I went in expecting a simple comedy.

I love it when a movie can pleasantly surprise you!

It was filmed in my backyard in The Muskokas and was unapoligetically Canadian..

Maybe I'm a little too harsh on DVDs, because I'm trying to avoid them in favor of blu-rays for the most part.

I got my wife The Ghost Whisperer series on DVD, and I feel like it looks very surprisingly good, like I'm pretty sure I've seen worse scenes in the Community series blu-rays.
