Well there's nothing flippant about BluRayHiDef's question. That's a damn good question.

I don't think they're very comparable. MoS is a big epic moment, but it's intimate and entirely character driven despite its special effect. No Mans Land is a straight up action sequence. Diana already knows how to fight, so it's not her learning as she goes, it's her finally being unleashed. I don't think they're close as far as what they mean for the characters. If anything No Mans Land is more impactful for the other characters in the film rather than it meaning a lot for Diana.

Characters aside, you believe a person already knowing their capabilities and finally "going for it" > than someone who discovers for them-self a capability, and immediately takes advantage of the situation?

Yeah, I don't think so, either. Maybe a better comparison would be the Smallville battle from MoS?

I don't really have an opinion either way to be honest.

All I can say is I've seen Man of Steel more times than I can even remember at this point and this still gives me chills:

Your treachery shall not go unpunished. How dare you betray the last son of Krypton? He died for you.

They're comparable because they both mark the transition of the characters whom they feature from the people who they began their journeys as to the heroes whom we know them as. In MoS' flight sequence, we see Kal in costume - as Superman - for the first time and watch him realize the potential that lies within him as his father narrates his purpose for being on Earth; and in WW's "No Man's Land" sequence, we likewise see Diana in costume - as Wonder Woman - for the first time and watch her execute her purpose for traveling to Man's world. So, the two are pretty similar.

Now, once again, which do you like more?

I know this doesn't help, but it's like watching Laci Green and Chris Ray Gun hook up for the first time.

But it's not the first time you see her in costume. It's also not her first fight scene. They aren't really comparable, because again, as I said, what those scenes mean for the characters aren't the same. Diana is already powerful, inside and out. She has full belief in herself. What you're witnessing is everyone else realizing they're dealing with someone special.

For MoS you're witnessing Kal accept who he really is. You're seeing him become Superman after years of suppressing his heroicism and optimism. He accepts his destiny and begins his journey.

As to which scene I actually like better? I'll go with Man of Steel, because I actually love that movie. No Mans Land is the one scene I love from Wonder Woman, but the rest of the film leaves me cold, so I don't have any real appreciation for it the way I do for the flight scene.

Actually, No Man's Land is the first time that we actually/ clearly see her in costume; prior to the scene, it's purposely obscured by her furry coat so that when she unveils it in No Man's Land, its revelation is more significant than it would be otherwise. Furthermore, I'm pretty sure that No Man's Land is the first time that she dons the tiara, which emphasizes her official transition to Wonder Woman.

She has it on under the coat, and you see it when she takes her clothes off in the clothing store. It's also not the first time that as a viewer I've seen it, since they already blew their load with it in BvS, which I liked better as a reveal, so it doesn't really matter to me. Since it's not the first time as an audience member that I've seen this exact same Wonder Woman be Wonder Woman, it's not as powerful a scene to me personally. It's not a "oh wow cool she's finally Wonder Woman!" It's "holy shit I've been here ninty minutes, about damn time." Lol.

Both MoS and WW have very obvious biblical references

Nein! Nein! Nein! We never see the costume clearly prior to No Man's Land, which is the first scene in which the camera focuses on it and thus indicates its significance within the context of the movie for the first time.

Anyhow, all we can do is agree to disagree about whether or not the scene is similar to MoS' flight sequence.

As for which I prefer, I honestly can't say; I like MoS more than WW, but I'm inclined to say that the sequences are equal.

Seeing Diana in the outfit for the first time (sans cloak) is just one aspect of what makes that scene so powerful. For me it's primarily that she inspires hope in the soldiers and achieves something that they've been unable to do in a year. It's the culmination of Diana's desire to help and her sheer frustration at everybody's helplessness. That and the score is great.

Not that I don't like the scene in Man of Steel in which Clark suits up, but I much prefer the No Man's Land sequence.

Just got back from my second viewing with my Daughter... reaffirmed my 5/5 easily. Picked up the soundtrack on the way home and blasted some 'Wonder Woman's Wrath' all the way home. It goes nicely with my Man of Steel and BvS soundtracks! After a walk tonight with the kiddo I'm putting some quality bourbon on the rocks and spinning Man of Steel in the bluray player!
