They should model it after Season of the Witch.

No. You couldn't recreate that 1970's vibe for one thing, and for the other, its not neccesary. It would just drag things.

No it wouldn't. Its all explained in film that Michael got up and walked away but sheriff's deputies were able to aprehend him. The movie takes place 40 years to the day, there shouldn't be any confusion on anyone's part what happened inbetween, to warrant any kind of flashback. Green and McBride do a very good job covering the history, any kind of additional visual would be tedious.

Yup, it was announced back in February that it had been bought and would return as a more heavy duty quarterly publication, focusing on in-depth analysis and retrospectives more than upcoming news, since the latter is so readily available nowadays thanks to the internet.

Agreed.

Halloween 1 and 2 gel nicely together. Halloween and Halloween 2018 don't. He's missing and the threat continues at the end of the first film and
[Show spoiler]he's been captured for 40 years at the start of the 2018 film
. Bad way to start things off imo.

He tries to grab it from her, the phone slips, shatters and VOILA! A plot action that actually makes sense as to why she no longer has her phone. Her phone in the dip was amateur hour at best as far as writing goes.
Umm...she was clearly upset and hurt and furious. It's quite understandable at that moment she would just storm away after that happened. What's she supposed to do - go fishing for it in the bowl? It's probably ruined anyways after that. And she probably wouldn't want to give him the satisfaction of him seeing her do that.

I see what you did there!

The original plan was to shoot two concurrently, but because of time and aprehensive studio executives that plan was abandoned. Focus on one movie, and then if successful follow it up. There was always at least a two movie plan. Now that sequel buzz is going on, it would be stupid to not bring back the creative team that made the highest grossing slasher of all time. Jamie Lee Curtis has gone on record to say that if Green is back as director, she would return, because in her words, Green made one beautiful movie.

Halloween and Halloween II gel because its the same night! You don't have that with Halloween and Halloween ('18)

Again that was never the point of Halloween ('18), the point they were making was after that night, the evil was contained, but like Carpenter points out whenever anyone asks about that ending to Halloween ('78). Evil cannot be stopped permanently, because in order for there to be a balance in the cosmos, life and death must also be balanced. Evil can be contained, but it cannot be forever extinguished. That was the point of having him locked up for 40 years. The evil was stopped, and remained dormant, but it was only a matter of time until he would strike again. This is also why the mask reveal was so important, to increase tension and up the stakes. Michael had awakened from his dormant state, evil has returned.

Been to see the movie this evening and enjoyed it but wasn't blown away by any means. Since I got home this is really bugging me... can anyone tell me what Vicky is watching on TV while she is babysitting? To me it looked like a very familiar scene but I just can't put my finger on it.

I know this. The point was I feel it's a mistake to not having shown the evil "being contained". The original film ended on a dramatic note and this film did nothing with that.

If in fact Jamie Lee does return for the next Halloween, while in fact I dont feel it would be early in the film but at some point I would be really shocked if she was not killed in the next one!

According to the "Connections" on the film's IMDb page, the movie features scenes from Repo Man and the TV show Voyagers! playing on televisions.

The clip where the man opens up the trunk and is vaporized is from Repo Man.

Must be true then - wouldn't be up there if it was made up.

Every other movie that releases theatrically usually gets its exclusive SteelBook pre order up the same day or very short after. Where is the US SteelBook pre order at? Its driving me mad!

Halloween is Now the Highest Grossing Slasher Film Ever

Quote:
Halloween has been out for about ten days now, and in those ten days it has achieved a few records. Highest October horror opening ever, second biggest horror opening of all-time, biggest opening for the franchise itself. Now, after its second weekend, it has achieved another. Halloween has now already become the highest-grossing slasher film of all-time. That is not adjusted for inflation, but still an impressive fest on a $10 million budget. The film’s weekend gross of $32 million brings its total to $126.6 million. That is $23.6 million more than the former #1, the original Scream film.
