The page for the UK release says "1 Movie, 2 Cuts". That's not accurate then? Or did they just throw a blu-ray of the international version in with the 4K of the US cut?

Sorry, Geoff. But believe it or not, some of us just visit here from time to time. I didn't even know there was an option to view the back cover. Apologies for the inconvenience of having read my question.

It's not a big deal, I just assume that someone who took the time to go to a page and then link to it would've made more than a cursory attempt at looking at said page. Though to be fair I couldn't blame you for not believing the back cover even if you had seen it because Warners are sooooooo bad at putting the proper specs on their covers.

I just got around to looking at this disc. I also had what I thought were sync issues that I've come to realize are seemingly at least partly ADR issues from this thread and other places. Looked all through this thread and - due diligence- read at least 20-30 pages. Has anybody come up with a definitive take on the issue? Is it all ADR? Is it my player- a Sony x800m2? Is it a Dolby Vision issue? Thanks, friends.

(if there are specific parts that are badly out though then if you describe them i could take a look and report back although when i watched it last nothing seemed majorly amiss) Last edited by vailsy; 03-30-2022 at 02:35 AM. |

I'm pretty sure there's NO ADR in THE SHINING. Kubrick was a big fan of using his production audio tracks. EYES WIDE SHUT has some because of the masks during the orgy sequence, but of his modern films, that's the only one I can think of that had any appreciable amount of ADR in it.

It feels like this movie gets a good bit of hate these days. Especially on Facebook groups and fans of SK.
I do think that it was a mistake for Torrance to be so obviously off right from the start. But it's still a great movie. |

Edit: It was the Sony X90J I picked up. Saw sync issues on a few other titles, too. Turned off any and all processing on the set except for local dimming and it took care of the problem. Last edited by happydood; 06-12-2022 at 11:54 PM. |

2001, The Shining, Full Metal Jacket, and Clockwork Orange are all WB titles. No rights issues. There isn't a bundle available but there may be in the future. We don't know. These are all cheap so grab em as singles and enjoy. |

King hated what Kubrick did with his story and therefore they do. I read so much bollocks about the movie I just laugh at them now. As for The Shining, I happen to think the book is among his poorest efforts. It is too long for such a short novel. At 460 pages it is 90% rubbish and would have been better served as a very short story, very short. He padded that story out until it felt so bloated in my opinion. King still throws out the odd punch directed at the movie once in a while and it shows how immature he still is, or at least can be, but the fans lap it up and adopt his attitude over it. The same happened when that train crashed and people died. King thought it was a moment for celebration because you know, Republicans. I was horrified by his Twitter outbursts on the subject and said so, I was openly attacked and left Twitter because of it, but other fans thought it really edgy and cool to mock the dead. As I said, he is a very immature man, and as a byproduct so are some of his readers. I hope his next work (Fairy Tale) has no mentions of Trump. |

and yet King gave his thumbs up to the recent The Stand remake a total pile of sh!t
Why? Well his son was a producer. He’s endorsed other films from his books that were not great adaptations. King also gave his approval to Under The Dome, I believe he was given an executive producer credit. I enjoyed Under The Dome but it doesn’t follow the book and the criticisms of the mini series were completely valid. I still love the insanely zany Third Season and when Natalie Zea showed up in the First Season. I agree, The Shining is not a favorite but like 99% of King’s books it’s very readable. I also thought the movie was good. Nowhere in the same league as Shawshank Redemption but The Shining continues to fascinate because of who directed it. Now on the other hand both the novel and film (Director’s cut) of Doctor Sleep were fantastic. So if The Shining was never written we’d never get Doctor Sleep. I bought Doctor Sleep 4K day one and was happy to find The Shining 4K on BF for $10. I could wait for The Shining to complete the set but not Doctor Sleep. |
