I want a movie cabinet (with glass doors) that goes almost to the ceiling, requiring a ladder. Space is so precious.

I've often thought how nice it would be to have custom floor to ceiling shelving for my collection instead of the dozen (not all matching) bookcases that I"m currently using.

I have floor to ceiling shelf but I can reach the top so a ladder isn't needed. I need to take over another wall though because my collection too large and still growing. This type of shelf is very easy to make and I found the info on elsewhere on this site if I remember. 2x4s go floor to ceiling and then 1x2s got across to make the shelfs. Very easy and cheap.

One of my daughters really wants a sliding ladder so she can do the pose from Beauty and the Beast.

Interesting timing, as I am in the process of visualizing and planning how my basement will come together, and have been kicking around where my collection of media goes. In St Louis, I had it out in the main area, but I think it is going to end up in the finished equipment room as a size able bar and a pinball machine will take up the spaces the collection could occupy. I do have 9 foot ceilings, so the idea of a ladder would be a cool touch. Glass doors would not work due to the rattling from the theater itself however.

Large collections and special packaging can be challenging.

Most or all of my collection will be accessible from a supplimentary digital file system. This inexpensive enclosure from Amazon is currently populated with 70TB but can be upgraded to 104TB.

Only have about 800 titles on my NAS with 98TB available, about 33TB used so about 65TB remains. At my age I do not see me using up the remaining space. I have completed my DIY NAS with 98TB available and will mirror my Zappiti NAS. For the initial copying I will use a Plugable USB 3.0 Transfer Cable (here) as it should be much faster than my 1000Base-T LAN. Still will take quite a few hours to copy 33TB.

I recently upgraded my shelving systems with several shelves and I thought they came out great. I also got some book shelves, as well. Sturdy and industrial.

I have TWO of these that take up one wall:

I have TWO of these just for books:

I will most likely remove my vinyl turntable and LPs from the HT and redo my bedroom. My living room is the dedicated HT and now holds my media collection/library.

All the time spent crawling around the floor with an SPL meter, standing outside the room waiting for sweeps to end, sitting in a dark room covering the glow from a laptop while various meters measure test patterns....all undone by a reflective surface that rattles... this thread is giving me nightmares

Words can't offer any consolation in situations like these... At the very least, she is fortunate to have you as family to lean on...

Nabbed this when it was on sale for $29.99 earlier today. Great deal.

And my copy of Se7en finally shipped. Great movie week coming up.

some people are fans of something from IKEA, sorry don't know what it is called, just going of hazy old memories. I remember correctly the doors are optional/add-ons

no sliding ladder here either, just built my own, 1x6 pine for everything, top/bottom and middle "shelves" are fixed for added stability, others I used L brackets screwed into the side pieces of each unit that way they can be flipped or moved (over the years have done flipping but never did moving)

When i used to have my physical discs out, I would use IKEA BILLY bookcases... they were cheap, modular and did the job..I still have two half height ones left in the room displaying a few LDs and housing a all the remotes that I don't use (God, the remote that JVC ships with their newer projectors is a piece of shitake)...

I will probably get rid of these as well as they're black is still not as jet as the rest of the room..lol..

There's a guy that does my HT metalic signs every time i get a new piece of equipment. I just placed an order for my JVC NZ7 and was a little taken aback at the shipping costs... he's in Belfast and I'm planning on being there in June but didn't want to wait...
My son and i were taking earlier this week about looking at ordering more titles from across the pond for however long this stupid trade war will last... but we'll have to see on a case by case basis and factor shipping... I'm wondering if the Mexican discs everyone complains about here will end up being cheaper than what Americans are going to pay with new tariffs...I doubt they come here by air, so probably not..
