If anyone is interested in the soundtrack, La La Land Records just re-issued the 2-disc expanded soundtrack in a limited edition for the first film. The price is $30+shipping.

JP1 4K steelbook for 22 EUROS is a good steal. I wouldn't buy the 6 movie series. For me JP and JW is more than enough.

I hope they remaster the 4K version of Jurassic Park 1993 again, sometime soon. I remember swapping between the 4K disc and the bluray disc and seeing absolutely zero difference.

Whereas other films like Batman Returns you can see a noticeable difference in color, highlights, and clarity right away. And the Batman Returns bluray is excellent.

I highly doubt they will. But this would be my most wanted 'remaster' from discs already out on the format, though! I'd like them to go back to the OCN and do a fresh 4K scan of the first one and grade it in line with other Spielberg fare in tems of HDR and WCG impact.

And the bonus would be all first three done this way. With DV.

With all the CG I think the best we'll get is a better graded scan of the IP. Unless they happen to have the filmouts, but I think if they did we would of had a better HD master by now.

There's not that much.

They just need to scan the negative (the CG bits are already cut into it).

I decided to go ahead and pick up the individual UHDs, as having each film in a seperate case with the original logo-based cover art is honestly more appealing to me than packing them altogether in one box that MIGHT have each film's the original logo on each disc sleeve.

If only they were still using the Spinosaurus logo for JP3 instead of this revised T-rex one...

Anyway, has anyone else ordered these from amazon or best buy recently? Would love to know ahead of time if I can reasonably expect at least the first film to still have the slipcover.

Nope. I saw an unboxing and according to the certificate, there are 5315 units. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=KmWA__kViDg

It looks like Target won't be selling the 4K Ultimate set (not the gift set) in stores, so here's hoping my copy that arrives tomorrow without damage.

I'm really excited to see Dominion -- it's the first Jurassic movie I didn't see in the theaters.

I read somewhere else that the first run was 700 and then since it sold out fast they produced another statue but not as the same as the original. Not sure if this true or not but I placed my order right away so I'm not sure what I'm getting, but I'm getting it delivered today.

Just to reiterate what the good Dr said, there's less than a reel of CG in the entire movie. And without wanting to default to my standard Knowledge Shaming™️ approach, you've clearly got no idea how movies with CG were actually finished in the photochemical era. Of coursh they have the filmouts, they're literally cut into the conformed original negative. So all they have to do is a new scan of the OG negative and you've got your camera original and filmouts in one source, there are no special measures needed here. It's just Universal being lazy and repurposing what looks like some older 4K scan that they had in their archives, with all the opticals and CG shots slammed hard with DNR - not because they look "bad", it's simply what Universal do to opticals these days.

One of the reasons why I’m not getting the Ultimate Collection today. That first film still needs the real work done to it.

Did anyone else buy the Ultimate edition? Mine is printed upside down. The spine and cover of the "booklet" type case is one way; everything inside requires you to flip it over.

Since the off center placement of the logo on the cover of the 6 movie collection book was bothering me, and I still had my 25th anniversary 4 movie 4k collection digibook. (Which had better artwork with the T-Rex in the visitors center) I decided to carefully separate the disc pages from the biding and swap out the covers. Worked perfectly and looks great. I previously did this with the BTTF set as well.

The current video presentation by Universal is no way to treat one of the most groundbreaking films of the last century, its really poor. Hope for a 30th anniversary remaster in 2023?

The better question is how do we convince Universal to do something about it

I just watched the original last night with my 6-year old son. It was his first time watching it and I really enjoyed seeing it with him and getting to relive my first experience with the film (though I was 13 at the time). As much as we enjoyed it, I do hope we get a better release some day. As folks have already stated, there really isn't a ton of CGI in the movie and a lot of the worst shots don't have a single effect in them. They can do better.

Update for those with the Ultimate Collection. 2 Best Buy sets. First set HD code and the inside was printed upside down. Second set HD code, but printed correctly. Contacted Universal and Gruv; Gruv gave new code about 24 hours after first email. They asked for photos in their first response.
