Well, with the exception of New York which was Part 8, those were all from Warner Bros/New Line.

Jason X is the greatest thing created by humanity since we first slithered out of the oceans those millions of years ago.

It's a rather silly movie, but it's entertaining. Plus the sleeping bag scene.

I don't understand the hate for the 2009 movie... what about it wasn't a good or better representation of Jason? Looking for a serious answer by the way.

The original franchise wasn't all that great. I like most of them but c'mon they aren't filmed or acted any better than the remake which had good production value and a great Jason, played by Derek Mears. The only real flaws for me were that he kept Whitney and had that whole underground tunnel system.

I thought the kills were pretty great and I would have loved to have seen a sequel, especially with the rumoured Winter setting. I mean, with the Halloween remake I understand the hate. I just haven't heard any good reason why the F13 remake was soooo bad.

I quite enjoy the 2009 movie. Not the most fun one to talk about, but in terms of straightforward entertainment, it ranks way up there in the series for me.

I think the producers are over thinking themselves. They keep trying to find a gimmick.

Teens. Crystal Lake. Boobs. Death. Pot. Rain. Boobs. Death. Final Girl showdown.

There is a simplicity that is why the original 8 just worked, for the most part.

When they started going to space or New York, making Jason a body jumping demon....it drove the fans away.

I think one of the biggest roadblocks to quality is the fact that there have already been TWELVE Friday the 13th movies. It's hard to come up with something new and invigorating when it's all been done before.

Yeah, which is why I was thrilled Paramount got the rights.

The first thing they go after is found footage. ugh.

Glad they wised up, for now.

I haven't seen it in years, but you basically answered your question for me. That girl being kept alive killed it for me and felt like plot convenience which is a movie killer for me all the time. Plus, I remember the middle portion of the film being really slow and the movie being too long and forgettable. It wasn't as bad as the Nightmare remake, but it was bad in the same way part 5 was bad. It just had too many minor issues that piled up and the script was too contrived for a Friday the 13th movie.

Will say the first time I watched it didn't care to much for it. When my complete collection came and rewatched the remake I started to like it. It is a good one and like that they brought the story back to the lake in it. Could have done with out the tunnel thing but still a decent remake or reboot which ever one it is.

Part 5 is amazing. I will never get all the hate. Just cause it's a copycat, much like Halloween 3 is azing despite no Michael.

I have mixed feelings about the film. The opening sequence was pure old fashioned Friday the 13th and ranks up there with the best of them. I remember being in the theater and the audience was completely on edge and onboard with the film once the title card slammed down. However, the rest of the film did not live up to that opening sequence and the film seemed to get more and more hokey as it went on, feeling closer to late 90s self-aware horror. Once a film stops taking itself seriously, the less scary it becomes. I think that's why Friday the 13th 1-4 work so well... they tried to be scary and didn't break the illusion.

Kenneth Branaugh should do a Shakespearian take on Jason. I mean what is more tragic than wanting revenge after you drowned and then watched your mother be beheaded?

Like it to, they really didn't change the formula up much in it other than Jason missing.

I love Part V, but would love it a lot more without (or with a severely toned down) Ethel and Junior.

Kind of how I feel. Everything with Padelecki was a distraction from the cabin happens as well.

Yeah I agree...Ethel and Junior were just plain annoying. Of all Paramount's Fridays, V is my least favorite. There were some good kills and I liked Pam as a "final girl" but something just felt off about the whole movie. And I'm still unsure as to the final scene.
[Show spoiler]Did Tommy actually kill Pam or was it another dream/hallucination?

[Show spoiler]It was a dream, for the final version. It was originally supposed to be real, leading Tommy to become a serial killer. Paramount decided to leave it a dream, so they could bring Jason back.
