Like I said, Sony and Samsung are the best sets for gaming so far, majority of their sets have a sub 40ms input lag on the Leo Bodnar test. I think best to date is the Sony KDL42W705B (1080p) with just 14ms input lag. 4k Samsung UN65JU7500 has just 17ms which is the best of the UHD sets.

There is quite a big database here http://www.displaylag.com/display-database/

Here's a tip hopefully none of you ever need: if your PS4 suddenly refuses to recognize any USB devices, restart the system. Took me an hour of great confusion before trying that obvious thing.

Also keep USB "Always On" in settings.

I feel for those people who didn't do this while backing up HDD.

Got my system back from repair yesterday. Didn't receive my original system back. This has a different serial number. Restored from my previous backup and after restoring the licenses P.T. transferred over just fine. Note that I did not re-download it. I had included it as part of my backup. Just wanted to pass this along in case anybody was in the same situation someday.

And a couple days later this replacement system sounds worse than the original one. Absolute ****ing joke.

I do but the situation sucks. Guaranteed I just keep going through the process with the same result. I can peddle the system to Amazon for $180 but there's currently no system only CUH 12000 variants. I don't want a bundle. I could open it myself but I know I'll break the ribbon cable connectors. There's places online that repaste it but only if you get the HDMI port replaced as well and it's a $90. No thanks.

Funny thing I noticed when I replaced the HDD in this new one was that there was already dust in the HDD compartment right out of the box.

1200 is the new model right? I got dust in my Oppo's disc drive. It's a player killer.

Yup. Seems the only way to get one in the US is a bundle with a game that runs $350. Even at that point there's no guarantee it'll be quiet.

Sorry, that sucks. When I did mine I wasn't careful enough with a ribbon cable going through a metal plate. It was $5 to replace it. With the paste its under $20 total. Better than $90.

Would you guys recommend Rest Mode all the time? I find it beneficial to charge the control and download updates but for the safety of the console, not so much.

The other day I had a power outage and it was left in Rest mode and since its technically still on consuming little power it caused the system to shut off improperly then when I turned it back on it gave the message that it could possibly damage the console if not turned off properly. Also I have a Monster power surge protector but still...

I don't see why not.

I have to do it with mine, because I found that if I use rest mode for more than several hours at a time, it doesn't wake up properly for some reason (it just sits there with a blinking blue indicator light). So I made it a habit of turning it straight off all the time, and I haven't had any issues. I'm sure it's safer for the hardware than risking damage from outages.

I don't use it myself, I don't like to put the extra strain, no matter how small, on the console. I don't need the function so just boot up from scratch.
Same as I don't watch films on it

What are folks using for inexpensive but reliable micro USB cables to charge the controllers?

I use this for my Astro's and they will probably work on the PS4 controllers.

No. Like u, I get power outages on occasion (once every 5-6 mos), and to me it's not worth the extra worry to leave it in rest mode all the time, surge protector or not.

Actually found an old Blackberry micro-USB cable as well as an old micro-USB changer in my cabling bin, so I'll just use those I guess.

I got my ps4 a couple week ago. On my ps3 it turns on and automatically downloads and updates and syncs all my trophies at 4-6am each day. Does the PS4 have the option to do that as well?
