Re: German release of Maze Runner 2: Scorch Trials 3D:
Sorry, I don't know. Don't have any 20TH CENTURY FOX German release title to date. A quick search on the German region 20TH CENTURY FOX first page has a few titles that are designated region free and one that is A,B locked. (Skyfall, Grand Budapest Hotel, Star Wars Complete Saga, & Gone Girl A,B only |

After seeing it twice in 2D I finally watched Edge Of Tomorrow in 3D. The opening of the film still annoys me, as all the news reports look like they have been heavily matted, but that's nothing to do with the 3D. I wonder if they were opened up in the IMAX version?
Anyway, the 3D conversion here falls mainly into my "nice" category. For the most part it doesn't add much but at least you get a sense of people and objects in a three dimensional space. The battle scenes also ramp up the 3D considerably, so while there's not much pop-out, there is what I like to call "object separation", with the action much easier to follow in 3D. When I watched this in 2D, both times I could barely see what was going on in the darker scenes, but in 3D it was crystal clear. I won't be watching it in 2D again. |

Yesterday I watched Minuscule: Valley Of The Lost Ants. It’s a story of a ladybird/ladybug who gets caught up in a battle between (good) black ants and (bad) red ones. The various insects and animals are all CGI but the backgrounds are all live action so it makes for a relatively unique visual experience. Add to that the complete lack of dialogue (the insects communicate in beeps and whistles) and you have a relatively unique auditory experience too – the sound design and music are just as important in the film as the visuals. Thankfully it’s not as arthouse as it sounds, the story picks up pace, is very easy to follow, and there’s a lot of humour in there. Makes a huge change from the constant whiny/smartass yap yap yapping you get in American animated films.
What’s the 3D like? Well, it is a native 3D production so looks impressively natural, with the CG and live elements very well integrated, but suffers from the same general conservatism as Hollywood productions in that the 3D is mild with not much pop-out, despite the National Park settings offering countless opportunities. I’m sure it’s an artistic choice to keep the CG insects integrated within the image rather than constantly floating out in front of it, but it could have been pushed much much more. That said, there is definitely some use of the negative parallax, most noticeably towards the end, but it’s all very naturally done and won’t make you flinch. Great if you don’t like in-your-face 3D. It is a French film so I bought the Australian disc - the film is entirely dialogue-free so in theory you could watch any version, but it does open with some onscreen text, which is in English on the Australian disc. There are a number of interviews and featurettes which are mainly in French with English subtitles and the 3D trailer is also included. If you can’t wait for A Bug’s Life to be released in 3D, you could do a lot worse than checking Minuscule out… |

Hey sorry this is he only place I could think to ask!! If anyone can help I would greatly appreciate it!
1st 3D bluray movie I've ever bought- Avengers:Age of Ultron. Problem- I was curious for all of you 3D bluray users already out there.. When you buy a 3d bluray + Bluray + digital combo pack.. Does the 2D Bluray that comes in the pack have the same special features that are listed on the back cover or are those special features only on the 3D bluray version? #confused I get my 3D tv in a couple months but this 3D combo came with a insert that had extra special features. But I am hesitant to open it yet, because I also want to watch the normal special features that come with the movie. |

All of the supplements are found on the 2D disc included in this combo pack. The 3D Blu-ray disc has no supplementary content. (Depending here you bought it , there is also extra Digital Download content available. ) Featurettes: From the Inside Out - Making of Avengers: Age of Ultron (1080p; 20:54) is a decent EPK with some good candid footage and some okay interviews. The Infinite Six (1080p; 7:28) focuses on some legendary icons from the story. Global Adventure (1080p; 3:01) discusses some of the far flung locations utilized in the film. Deleted and Extended Scenes (1080p; 12:04) features optional commentary by Joss Whedon. Gag Reel (1080p; 3:37) Audio Commentary with Director Joss Whedon. Whedon provides an informative if sometimes a bit rambling commentary, getting into some elements like story construction and little (sometimes rather fascinating) tidbits about iconography, while giving regular shout outs to his cast and crew. ![]() |

Just watched my copy of Boogie 3D (2009).
It's basically a tongue-in-cheek satire of multiple movie genres. Clint Eastwood films, mafia movies, Apocalypse Now, redneck car chases (Smokey and the Bandit & Dukes of Hazzard), dystopian apocalyptic films, film noir, and others I probably missed. Unfortunately, the execution doesn't quite work. Part of it is that the translation from the script's original language to English. Also, the English actors are boring and go through the motions. I still enjoyed it since I'm familiar with the subjects it's poking fun at. Those who watch not knowing it's satirical nature may be bored. It's a mix of hand drawn 3-D animation, CGI 3-D animation, and hand drawn 2-D animation placed behind the stereo window, which is basically faux 3-D. The 3-D animation sequences range from mild, medium, and sometimes strong popouts (usually involving bullets flying at the screen). |

I got my Doctor Who Dark Water/Death In Heaven 3D through today so may well watch that now... ...and now I've watched it. Not the best conversion I've seen, dull and unremarkable in fact. Last edited by the13thman; 10-10-2015 at 01:12 PM. Reason: watched it! |

Tron Legacy - the real pretty IMAX scenes made this a better home experience than I had theatrically but I found the 3D frustratingly conservative nonetheless. The one in-your-face flinch moment comes as a shock because nothing much else notably comes out of the screen. On the plus side I was expecting ghosting and didn't get any, it looked absolutely gorgeous on my active plasma. After all the conversions I've been watching, it was a treat for the eyes, it's just a shame the negative parallax was so underused.
San Andreas - well, this one was a surprise. I'd seen it in 2D and expected it to look nice in 3D, but the strong depth and dimensionality far surpassed my expectations. I agree that it's not showy in that it throws things in your face, but the effects are showy enough and it made me very aware throughout that I was watching it in 3D, which is the next best thing - there's nothing worse than watching a 3D movie with 3D so boring that your brain just cancels it out as anything special. |

I watched The Wolverine in 3D for the first time and again was pleasantly surprised, probably because my expectations were rock bottom. Perhaps its the massive glass of whiskey I had beforehand, but I quite liked what I saw. The film has a lot of talking indoors, and most of these scenes now have appreciable depth. The conversion of course is far too conservative and doesn't stretch to pop out effects BUT I did feel that it was occasionally pulling foreground elements out, which gave a pleasing dimensionality to many scenes. The action also looks good but I wouldn't say the 3D enhances it as much as in some other blockbusters, probably because of the quick editing and grounded fighting, indeed, the final fight didn't really feel much different than it did in 2D, I'd lost the wow factor by then. The worst thing though is that the 3D version is the censored PG13 cut and not the far superior extended cut of the film, the extra violence is sorely missed.

![]() ![]() ![]() I think this is the 4th or 5th time I have watched these two. I love them both. Some great 3D and lots of cool pop outs all over. Hollywood should watch these and take notes on how to do some proper pop outs. It will be hard to wait til 2018 for Dragons 3. |
