But there isn’t a second of Afterlife that feels like Ghostbusters.
Ouch. Thats not what I want to hear! Ill have to make my own assessment.

We wont get into star wars here though, but I do hear ya.

I think you’ll like it. It DOES feel like Ghostbusters. That user just has it in for the movie...and probably will with GB4 too.

I was concerned Gozer returning would feel repetitive but it does a good job being a different storyline.

If you've ever put any stock into what I say, I'll tell ya this. It's a GB movie that is over 30 years later. It's not gonna have that same 1984 tone, but that doesn't make it NOT a GB film. It's story is just more personal revolving around a tragedy. It's a solidly entertaining movie that is ownable with the other two films.

I don’t “have it in” for Ghostbusters Afterlife. It’s just a terrible movie. If it was a good movie I’d be supportive of it, but it’s not.

Honestly it seems like the people who like it are just IP loyalists who will slurp up whatever slop these giant corporations will feed them as long as they wank the fanbase thoroughly.

That’s exactly what it means. Afterlife is literally Sony’s attempt at repurposing the once-mighty Ghostbusters IP to ride the coattails of Stranger Things and IT.

And it’s much worse than Stranger Things, IT and Ghostbusters 1&2.

Appreciate all opinions here. I think it will be worthy purchase for me. Just looking for a good sale on the 4K.

Never saw the original, but enjoyed this one. Streamed it twice. It was cute.

Why? Is an echo chamber where people just pretend Ghostbusters Afterlife is a good movie really what you want?

This is a serious question, by the way. I sincerely want to know the answer. What is it about this thoroughly-poor movie that makes people freak out over discussion of its many shortcomings?

I gotta be honest, I feel like it’s upsetting to you because deep down you know it’s a bad movie, but you’ve built yourself up a fragile, but comfy, little denial bubble that lets you maintain the fantasy that this movie was a labor of love or a tribute to the fans or whatever and not just a way to sell you some new toys.

I'm going to regret this.

Or maybe it's not a bad movie?

Either way why do you waste so much time and effort on something you hate? You've jumped into this thread for years bashing it. It won't change the movie and you're clearly not changing anyone's minds.

At least Christopher Nolan wasn't involved in this movie. Then there would be two of them!

It's amazing how much free rent you give this movie in your head...two years later to boot.

Must just kill you knowing you're in the minority on this one.

Based on what? Ghostbusters was a movie that everyone on earth loves. Nobody even remembers Ghostbusters Afterlife 2 years later. So how are the dozens of people who passionately love Afterlife the majority?

The main problem with Afterlife is that it feels too bloated and sluggish without any life or "pep"

It's an editing room problem, it feels like i'm watching a movie with all the deleted scenes put back in. If they trim it down by about 10 to 15mins it would flow much better and won't feel like a drag.

It really boggles my mind when people put so much effort into something they don't like.

You can voice an opinion and move on, it's okay to do that.

Life's too short, go discuss something you like.

Back on topic.

I thought Afterlife was excellent

Call me crazy (most will), but Afterlife is the best Ghostbuster film to date for me. The only Ghostbuster film I have in my collection. I don't hate or dislike the originals and I actually think they are good movies. I just didn't grow up watching the older ones so I'm sure that played a huge part.
