I think Smokie simply resides in the chamber below the wall that surrounds the Temple. Isn't that where Ben went to be judged last season? Anyway, we saw last night that the actual Temple is beyond that wall.

That's exactly what it was. It was all part of MiB's plot to kill Jacob. But Ben still went to be judged voluntarily. Why did he do that? I believe it's tied into Ben summoning the monster back in season 4.

If you remember when Jacob and MIB were talking someone said it always ended the same. ANd MIB said he would find a loophole and that is what happened now with locke.

Exactly. He didn't control it at all. He only knew how to summon it, and even that proved that it could take 'a bit'. It certainly was not a press a button and immediately the monster appears type situation.

Yep, I think they made that clear in the finale last season. MIB said something like "they come, they kill, they deceive, they ..." (something). "It always ends the same."

Jacob responded: "It only ends once. Everything else is just progress."

To me, it's some sick game of the human condition.

So it's been played before. Jacob is hoping this is "the end." MIB is trying to prove him wrong.

I don't recall that, but in any event the Temple is not where Smokey dragged Locke, etc., into the building. That's what we all thought, but we were wrong. That's just a way to get to the Temple, apparently.

Was Claire on the alt-flight? Seemed odd to wait to show her in the cab, as if that would be a major wtf moment.

Kate stole Jack's pen. Charlie ended up living anyway so probably doesn't mean anything but I thought it was interesting.

Welcome back LOST you frustrating bastage.

so was it jacob or MiB inside the cabin? if it was jacob in there, the ring of ash was to keep MiB out. If it was the MiB than it was to keep him trapped inside. Maybe smokey in the early days of the series was the MiB's formless body roaming the island searching for his soul which was trapped in the cabin.

I think it might have been that case, since Ben said "jacob" hated technology and so far everytime smokey has been shot at he goes nuts killing people. Notice when MiBlock came out of the foot and Richard realized who he was Richard told everyone to not shoot at him.

For the exchange between Locke and Jack - I understand that the survivors really didn't know about Locke's inability to walk - however, in this timeline, Locke and Jack are strangers, but yet Jack seems surprised to see Locke in a wheelchair. (opposed to just another stranger in a wheelchair.)
But on the plane, he had been talking about going on a walkabout and killing his own food etc, which I am pretty sure didn't happen since they didn't let him go in the first place. How far away was he sitting from Jack? Perhaps he heard him.

If Desmond never went on the race, did he meet Libby? Wasn't she the one that provided him with the boat? We are supposed to get her back story.

So then also in this reality, Hurley may have never been in the mental hospital? Is Rose still dying from cancer? Is Sun still planning on leaving her husband? She didn't want to help him at the airport. Shannon didn't come back home, although that could have just been an excuse because they couldn't get her to come back for the episode.

Im in the same boat, at our office meeting this morning I said last nights episode was awesome, and my boss said she stopped watching last season because it got too confusing with the duel timelines. I said now theyve gone into alternate realities and she gave me a WTF look, hehehe

I now think that once upon a time Jacob resided in the cabin, and the ring of ash was to keep MiB out. At some point the ash circle was broken and Jacob relocated to the statue. Regardless of whether that's true or not, though, I still think it was MiB who was in the cabin posing as Jacob when Locke and Ben came to visit (the circle was already broken by that point).

Of course, there's also that scene where Christian and Claire are in the cabin. So I'm sure we'll find out what really happened there soon enough.

It's the opposite here, as we have been moving on more and more through the episodes/seasons more people have joined the group.

I've noticed most of my friends dropped off after season 2 or in the middle of season 3. I tell everyone it gets so good after the middle of 3. I personally have loved every season and didn't find anything lagging.

I think Season 2 is the one that lost the most people because they spent a lot of time on the Hatch. Those that stuck it out and caught Season 3 actually learned a lot. It's hard to convince people to come back though.

A lot of people were like, "JUST SHOW WHAT'S INSIDE THE DAMN HATCH ALREADY!" then they gave up. Then Season 3 started and they left an we saw a WHOLE NEW WORLD with the other island.

yea season 3 was ridiculous. so many things happened and the flash fowards changed a lot, just like the flash sideways are now.

Although technically they are flashbacks and sideways because they take place 3 years in the past right?

I thought when they showed a glimpse of "jacob" in the cabin... that it was actually Christian the whole time?
