I was looking forward to this, but every review I read mentions the words "comedy" or "humor". I don't care for horror-comedies, preferring horror movies to be played straight, so now I've lost interest.

This movie is over 2 hours long. There's bound to be a few comical scenes. That said this is a horror film that's played seriously overall. Most people really enjoyed it and it's your loss if you skip it due to some random reviews.

I would not classify it as a horror-comedy at all. There are a few moments of humor but overall it's played very serious.

Saying that "it's all digital" is meaningless and it really is damn sad if you can not understand why that is true. You continually say this in a weak attempt to create a false equivalency.

You are trying to imply that the up to 100gb digital file on a 4K disc is the same thing, and therefore the same quality, as what we get from streaming services and this has been proven false more often than you misunderstand things.

Below are two digital photos of the same flower. They are both "all digital", but are they equal? Surely even you can see the difference.

Oh, you could not back Wendell into a corner with a bulldozer; he is WAY out of your league in technical expertise.

No name calling, you post stupid stuff you get called out. In the context being discussed here those phrases have no meaning. I and some other members here speak Boolean but those that don’t speak it understand the concept and you insult members here with your constant posting of “It’s all digital”. As stated before, binary data storage location is irrelevant.

Have posted before but will do again. If you look at the table below it is quite obvious there is a fair difference in A/V quality between these digital lockers for the same title.

Servers: I have four, 2 Synology, 1 Zappiti and 1 DIY. A DVD stored on these is still DVD. The fact that the DVD is binary (digital) and stored on a server does not change it’s A/V quality to match that of Blu-ray.

All TVs are just an assortment of pixels.

They are therefore all exactly the same.

You know the funny thing is your life saying isn't even true. It's not all digital everything shot before like the year 2000 was done on film and the masters are stored on film for archiving. the majority of masters in existence are probably analog. For most media the end all be all is actually analog

Will add to this, in digital cameras the light sensing device (CCD, CMOS, etc.) output is analog. The analog video is clocked out of the sensor where it is sampled in the A to D converter. Similar for live audio, the output of the microphone is analog unless it has on board A/D.

The Digital Entertainment Group finally published its mid-year report for 2025; it looks like they have switched from making quarterly reports to semi-annual ones.

Digital Entertainment Group Mid-Year 2025 Report.jpg

https://www.degonline.org/portfolio_...ment-report-2/

I also posted this in the Home Video Sales thread.

https://forum.blu-ray.com/showpost.p...postcount=3213

The chart is a little different now with two categories of SVOD listed: "pure" and "hybrid." Hybrid means ad supported SVOD.

My HTTYD came yesterday.. I've programmed a 5th lens memory into my projector to deal with shifting aspect ratio movies.. I've programmed the HARMONY remote to use the 4 colour coded buttons and am looking for a solution that doesn't require digging out the JVC remote to access this 5th aspect ratio...maybe fiddling with the long press settings?

Shifting aspect ratios within a movie sound like a royal pain in the rear for you projectionists. I think that futzing with it might make me homicidal.

Pre-ordered the TMNT trilogy 4K from Orbit and pre-ordered the Shin Godzilla 4K 4-disc set from the Godzilla store. If you sign up for their mailing list they'll send you a 15% off coupon immediately, so I used it to bring my Shin costs down a bit.

Go to the product page of the given title and look at the web address for that page:

https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Flow-4K-Blu-ray/382057/

The numbers at the end between the "/" marks are what you need. In this case 382057.

Start a post and select the [BD] icon next to the spoiler tag icon.

Insert those numbers between the two sets of "BD" brackets that appear; the second set of brackets will contain a "/" before the letters "BD":

Voila!

Same thing for DVD, except that there is no icon. Just substitute "DVD" for "BD" in the above example:

Thank you Vilya.

This is my first disc for 2027.

After all that, I linked to the wrong one. Mine is just the standard £19 4K!

I would hate it even I was watching on a TV. Narratively, it takes me right out of the movie unless it serves some purpose. I think I've seen it used acceptably twice - there is a gorgeous transition in one of the HUNGER GAMES movies and most recently in a John Malkovitch movie (OPUS?).... but other than that, it's usually different film stock for an action sequence or something stupid IMHO...

When used for IMAX, my matting to 2.2:1 works perfectly. I get most of the vertical benefit of the open matte shots while maintaining a cinematic wide screen. OPPENHEIMER (shown theatrically at 2.2:1 in non IMAX auditoriums) and the 3D versions of the AVATAR movies (different ratios for 3D and non 3D theatrical presentations) look glorious on my setup!

I streamed HTTYD with my daughter recently and we enjoyed it. I'm looking for an improvement on the already impressive compressed ATMOS track from the disc. We didn't have to contend with the shifting ratios streaming. It's a minor annoyance - a first world problem to be sure..
