I think that is a wise decision. It would be ludicrous to look 2 discs out of 22. The artwork ain't final until the BBFC certificates are on the discs.

As for the Bond films: That is a definite No Sale for the US because it's been revealed that Q0S and the bonus disc are Region B. That is in addition to lack of original audio mix.
Reading the reviews, of Hitchcock from the link provided, they have been messed about, have mistakes and some aren't much of a step up from DVD (especially when watched on an up scalling player).
Thats how I see it and its £100 for 14 films... and what, say half are not great?

I used the Bond comparison because of the ones that have been released i.e Dr No. I've read reviews saying reference quality. And have not heard of any issues with any that have been reviewed. 22 films for £90 (unless you've used a discount code)

I just no longer see the Hitchcock set, which I've also been waiting for, as worth it and it sounds like a bit of a shambles. And to ask for that money for an inferior product when there is an example of an expensive box set including more films, some over 49 years old can be done costing less. Count me out.

I'm not a complete negative ar**hole, I'll buy the set if I read better reviews and the one on here is wrong etc. I'm happy with the silhouette box, as its the films I'm more interested in, but £100 for this quality ... nah.

Looking back a few pages, its not just some review its the review of someone who really knows his stuff and its about 8 or 9 he's not happy with...so far.

Hmm well if that's the case (not being sold out) Imma cancell for now. I just wont be able to afford it and if something happens like the price goes down loads or they do another one with changes etc, no point in spending all that money.

Any pq or aq transfer issues? Or just some typo errors in the uk set?

Look a few pages back at the review for that set. Not sure if you see spelling mistakes or hash jobs of redoing and opening sequence as acceptable? But those aside read the review for pq issues for about 7 titles including The Birds.

Feel free to correct me if I am wrong but I am sure hitchcock filmed marnie with a gauze over the camera lens,to give it a dream like look or am I confusing this with another hitch movie, also did he not have problems with the lighting on rope with the camera and set moving as there was only about five or six cuts in that one?

Cancelled. For the time being.

With the issues mentioned, and the pricing, I felt it was best to wait for reviews and wait for a price drop to see if a purchase is warranted down the road. The Bond-set will have to do for a treat in the meantime.

He did use soft filters. I wonder if the DVNR tools are reading it as noise?

from thedigitalbits.com site

"Universal Studios Home Entertainment is postponing the Blu-ray release of Alfred Hitchcock: The Masterpiece Collection to October 30, 2012. Certain imperfections with the product have come to light and, as a result, we are delaying the release date to correct these points. Our goal is to always deliver the best possible product to our consumers."

Delayed 29 days? Plenty of time to sort all the "imperfections" then.

Ha-ha! I'm glad Universal don't take themselves too seriously.... It's like they know they're shit but they're okay with it. Unfortunately we're the ones who suffer.

How hilarious would it be if they just fixed the Frenzy misspellings and called it a day?

[Show spoiler]Not hilarious at all is the correct answer

No mention of the UK version being delayed.

I'd be shocked if they did anything beyond fixing the Frenzy credits to be honest.

The lack of news regarding the UK set is troublesome... I would imagine they would have to delay that as well as the US set though, right? If they're using the same encodes for the films anyway...

I imagine they will delay the UK set as well, but i find it strange that the only announcement that Universal has made is regarding the US set

They need to delay the UK set and offer the "improved" set the same as the US. So far amazon UK does not show any date change as amazon US does. I'm cancelling my pre order just in case they decide to not delay the UK set and give us a crappy edition.

What's so crappy about it?Searched the internet about the set,and it said that most movies had very good PQ and AQ.Some earlier movies were reported as problematic, but Vertigo-the one I'm most looking forward to-is said to be stunning or near to.Please elaborate.

Well maybe crappy its not the word for it but certainly is a defective set. Universal themselves are saying that so I'm expecting they will release the UK set with the same quality they are releasing the US set. But so far thereis no word of a delay of the UK set.
