Heard this talked about on the recent PCP episode with QT. Haven’t seen it and would need to look into the current rights situation.

Ooh, this is a REALLY fun flick. Rachel Ward (who is fantastic in everything, and while she’s carved out a respectable directing career in her native Australia, I miss seeing her in films) is so believable as a teacher pushed to the edge. One of the great “children in peril” movies

Fortress (1985) was a HBO production, meaning it resides with Warner.

Ah, yeah, then that is indeed a dead end. Too bad.

I won't pretend to know enough about rights/licencing to know whether this could make an international release more or less likely, but a bit of extra information in case it's useful to somebody...

In Australia, Fortress was distributed theatrically by UIP then on video by CBS/Fox in the '80s, and around 2016/17 a new 2K restoration screened theatrically in a double-feature with Road Games.

Again, that may not mean anything and I have no idea whether that may indicate if an Australian release could be more likely than a US one from a rights perspective, but thought I'd share the information just for extra context. A key takeaway though is that a 2K restoration does exist, and has screened theatrically (in a double-feature no less, where rights usually dictate what can be paired together).

Fortress was a co-production with HBO and Crawford Productions. It's likely overseas distribution rights are controlled by the Australian producers given they were the ones who commissioned the restoration from whatever elements they possess.

FCE knocks it out of the park again with Jeremy. It took a bit for me to get used to the handheld documentary style of the production, but when the story clicked for me, it really hit home. What a beautiful film

I finally got my copy in yesterday. I've said it once and I'll say it again many many times. That is one beautiful slip. Can't wait to watch. Keep up the excellent work.

Thank you, Animatic33! The warm response to JEREMY from a lot of people who had never seen or heard of it before has been heartening.

Thank you and, of course, hope you enjoy the film as much as the slip.

Just finished watching the Jeremy blu...my word. Word of mouth hooked me but I honestly didn't expect to come away with so much love for the film. What a wonderful discovery. Robby and Glynnis are exceptional and the supplemental interview, hearing them both speak so fondly of making the film, was so enjoyable.

Kudos to you for putting the work in and getting this out there, I truly hope it continues to find an audience, the film deserves it.

Been a bit blown away by responses like this for JEREMY. Much as I love the film, the strong positive reaction overall has been surprising and obviously extremely gratifying. Thank you for sharing your experience with the film here.

Absolutely my pleasure. Getting to spend 90 minutes with such a film today was an unexpected delight. You can be sure that I'll be recommending Jeremy to everyone in my circle (and beyond!).

Also, keep up the good work. I stumbled across FCE with I Start Counting and went back to pick up Alphabet City and now with Jeremy I'm a solid fan. I'm very excited about what you have on the horizon this year.
