Haven't seen it yet, but I've got book reading armour on right now.

I just started watching season 4 again in preparation (H) for the rumble in the capitol.

So far, I've re-watched the first two episodes. One thing I never noticed the first time was when Prince Oberyn said "We're gonna need more women", Bronn shook his head yes, yes, yes!, but Tyrion shook his head no, no, no!, with resignation.

As long as yo have your book reading armor on -

Too much tap dancing around by Oberyn. Reminded me of The Princess Bride: "Hello. My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die!" How does Tyrion get out of this? And he better get out, GRRM.

Did Selmy sell out Jorah? That scene with Jorah pleading to Dany was fantastic. Is Selmy one of Varys birds? Don't tell me.

I thought the same thing about Oberyn. The way he kept repeating himself with a Spanish accent.

No, the little kid who handed Selmy the letter was the "little bird". Selmy just did what he thought was right. It was rough seeing Jorah get the boot.

I loved the way Arya started laughing after finding out her aunt just died. After trapesing all around Westeros with The Hound only to find out that everyone dies right when she arrives, I can understand why she loses it and goes a little wacko.

Sansa seems like she's starting to learn how to play the game, and turning into a sexy woman too.

And then there's this:

Lol. *pop* Like an overripe grapefruit.

It seemed Selmy really took pleasure in getting Jorah banished. Or is this more manipulation by Tywin?

Sansa is finally learning how the game is played. And yes, she's becoming quite the hottie.

Ayra and The Hound crack me up. They make a good team. On the other hand, Ramsey and Reek have to go. That storyline must die.

I never got the sense that Selmy took any real pleasure in outing Jorah, except for maybe just a hint of "I caught you, you dirty lying spy." What's sad is that although Jorah was spying for Robert Baratheon in the beginning in order to receive a pardon, very early on he became completely faithful to Dany.

I'm not going to get into any details about anything, but in a very general sense, believe it or not, things will continue to get even more amazingly awesome, sickeningly devastating, and absolutely mind blowingly batshit crazy.

I just hope that GRRM puts out the last couple of books before the show catches up to him.

Well, I was supposed to be off Monday through Thurday this week. It was going to be booze parties and movie marathons.

On Monday as I was getting ready to fire up the pj, my neighbor knocked on my door and asked if I would help him unload a bunch of stuff from his truck and put it away. By the time we were done and I showered and ate, it was pretty late. Oh well, I'll enjoy Tuesday.

On Tuesday as I was getting ready to pick up a pizza and head home to get started, my boss called and asked if I could fill in for just a couple of hours at another store. It ended up being from 4pm until 1am. Oh well, Wednesday will be my day.

On Wednesday the streetlight in the driveway that my neighbor and I share went out, so we were going to change out the lamp real quick. It ended up not being the lamp, but the entire fixture that needed replacing. After picking up the new fixture and climbing up and down a ladder in 90° rainy weather and finally getting it working after dark, I was exhausted, so I decided that no one was going to stop me from enjoying my Thusday.

Well, today I got up and hung around in here for a little while, then went to fire up my home theater around 1pm. There was no sound from my AVR. I checked all of my settings. I tried troubleshooting all kinds of stuff for hours. I updated my firmware. I scoured the internet for anwers. I ended up doing a factory reset. Still no sound at all. It was showing that it was receiving the audio codec on the on screen display, but no sound at all.

After inventing several new cuss words, I calmed down and called Onkyo. After talking to the very helpful guy forever and sending emails back and forth, they are going to fix it out of warranty for free, including free shipping both ways.

After all of that, I boxed up my Onkyo then brought my somewhat crappy Sony 7.1 HD AVR from my living room into my HT room and hooked it all up and ran the crappy audio adjustment program, then cleaned up the residual mess from all of the boxing and moving, took a shower, and now here I am in my living room watching Seth Meyers with just tv speakers at almost 1am.

This has been the worst "4 days off" of my entire life, but I'm just glad that they are taking care of my AVR for free. I don't always have the best luck with my free time, or my equipment, but at least I pretty much always manage to get stuff fixed for free. Thanks for reading my rant.

Sorry to hear about all the fun you had this week.

But like you said, at least they're taking care of you on the avr.

Thanks Billy. After everything I went through today, I really wanted to watch a movie, but my mind was so shot that after I hooked up my crappy avr, I still couldn't get any sound. It took me quite a while to realize that I had it set to "Input 3" instead of "HDMI 3".

GRRM himself couldn't have written a worse 4 days off. To quote 80's pop star Howard Jones, things can only get better.

Thanks Russ.

There's no telling. I just started this job about a month ago and the boss said he would give me 36~38 hours per week, but here lately he's been giving me a bit less each week. I'm so sick of dealing with crappy jobs and not enough hours.

I got my avr sent off for repair today before work though, so that's good. Hopefully it won't take too long.

Thanks Wabo.

Yeah, just horrible timing and luck this week. I was almost glad to work today just to avoid all of that crap.

Now I'm going to go check out my HT room with my little Sony avr hooked up. Side by side my Onkyo that's going for repairs comared to my Sony is like The Mountain next to Tyrion. Maybe beer will help.

That's a classic vacation! Could be a John Hughes movie!

Thanks Travis.

Yeah, it felt almost like I was Neal Page from Planes, Trains, and Automobiles. I guess that would make my neighbor, my boss, and my avr a horribly combined Frankenstein version of Del Griffith.

I've pretty much had the exact same setup in my HT room for the last 15 months, so the switch to my lesser quality Sony avr made an absolutely huge difference. Much more than I expected.

I checked out the pod race scene from Star Wars Ep. I, and then some Jeff Beck @ Ronnie Scott's. The main differences that I noticed was that the overall soundfield felt much less cohesive; the sound appeared to be emanating from the speakers more than actually creating an immersive three dimensional surround environment, the dynamics were noticeably less impactful which made everything sound a bit more dull and not near as exciting and realistic, the lack of power also made the overall volume seem much quieter and once I turned it up to compensate, the dynamics and compression problems got even worse, the bottom end from my subs seemed to lose most of the bottom octave which really surprised me, and with music the kick drum sounded much more "bonky" with less visceral immediacy.

I'm sure the fact that my Onkyo weighs 40.3 lbs and my Sony weighs 18.3lbs makes a big difference in the amp section, and the lack of Audyssey room correction made a huge difference with the overall cohesion and immersion, and I'm sure is also the cause of my lack of deep defined LFE. Aside from the very weak amp section of my Sony, again I'm really quite amazed at the difference the lack of Audyssey room correction makes in my room. I know some of you guys think that "Oinkyo" makes a lesser quality product, but compared to my low-end Sony avr, it's a quantum leap forward in overall sound quality, and I've gained a new appreciation for what it really does for my speakers, my subs, and the overall sound of my HT room.

I can't wait to get it back. I think right now might be a good time to revisit some of my older dialog driven films. I think I might watch the Python trilogy over the next several days (Holy Grail, Life of Brian, Meaning of Life.)
