She may not have directed any other films, but according to Japanese Wikipedia she's kept busy doing other creative stuff like writing, making commercials, and hosting TV & radio.

Does it ever put any one off collecting these Roman Porno films when so many of they will never get a release or does it make you more eager to get the ones that are.

I'm not sure why it would matter - it's a genre or style of film rather than a series with connections to one another. Though there were series within the roman porno genre, of course.

I'd like to see more released but so far, other than Somai's Love Hotel, I don't have an interest in any. It would be great to see someone release Retreat Through the Wet Wasteland, Confessions of a Teenage Mother, Bōkō gishiki, and Bu-ra-i no onna

Someone (either Otani or someone related to her) likely requested her films to be buried, and Nikkatsu complied. Hence all her films disappeared from distribution, and amazingly enough, several Japanese online movie sites seem to have removed her name from their database. Ironically not Nikkatsu however.

There are many cases like this. About 10 years ago Laputa Asagaya (a theatre in Tokyo) was doing a "Toei New Porno" retrospective but had to cancel nearly half of the program when screenwriter / director Doten Fukao requested Toei that none of the films he was involved with (two as a director, two as a screenwriter) be allowed to be shown. Program leaflets had to be redone and talk events cancelled (director Misao Arai was furious that his true account crime film A College Girl's Affairs could not be screened, but despite contacting Toei he could not reverse the screening ban). The ban lasted until Fukao's death last year.

(you can read my full report here)

Similarly Toei cancelled their own DVD release of Bankaku Rock about 15 years ago. It was because one former band member who contributed to the soundtrack feels bitter about the experience and threatens to raise hell if the movie is even shown again. That guy is still alive, and hence the movie remains buried in vaults. Director Makoto Naito said he has even consulted the Director's Guild of Japan about this, but he hasn't managed to free the film.

There must be many more similar cases that we just haven't discovered about...

Still need to get the last 3, particularly The Crazy Family which looks great fun.

Sailor Suit and Machine Gun worked really well for me, so I went on a Shinji Somai splurge with these from Terracotta:

Do Terracotta still have reward points? Was tempted to get the Directors Company stuff from there, but when I logged into my account, I couldn’t see any sign of points. Thought I might have had some I could have used towards the order.

They seemed to have stopped them which sucks as I was about to use my points on a few Directors Company titles too.

It is a bit disappointing if they have stopped them. Haven’t shopped there for a while, and can’t remember how many I had stored up, but I’m pretty sure I had some, which would have come in handy. No notice of them being stopped either? A bit rubbish that.

Yeah if they didn't notify anyone then that sucks, I don't recall getting any information about it, seems a lot of labels are removing rewards systems now; I had better spend all of my 88films points soon.

But to be honest the loyalty program was useless and crap anyway and was purely there as a facade to trick you into thinking that you actually got value from shopping there. If I remember rightly you would have had to have spent £1000 to get a £10 coupon.

And again from what I remember, they had a far better rewards program before they changed to that miserly system.

Just checked with them and it’s just very temporarily turned off while they change some display settings

That’s good to know, thanks for checking.

It’ll probably turn out that I won’t have accrued as many points as I thought I had anyway
