It seems like the DF Wrasslin' Show is now in syndication, because this is a repeat of THE HOUSE THAT VANISHED fiasco.

I really wanted the full version of THTV and was one of the first people to buy it when it went live - still pissed off about getting burned.

I'm glad I am not interested in LAST VICTIM/FORCED ENTRY, but feel bad for you guys who are into it and got duped.

Ruined is just regurgitating his Carrier argument but changing the name. If you're a glutton for punishment, you can go back and dig up his Carrier talking points but I've summarized below:

Blah, blah, superior cut, blah, blah, director's preferred cut, blah, best version of the film on the disc that exists, blah, blah, excellent quality.

Go figure.

The whole 'removing the title from circulation' is also part of Ruined Investments grand strategy. Now instead of just The Carrier, being the sole base of the pyramid investment scheme, we now add Last Victim/ Forced Entry. He is building wealth as we speak, one recalled bru-lay at a time.

Imagine if a record label owner came out and said "we're releasing a special edition release of this long out of print album with a number of extra tracks and a whole new song order". They release details in relation to the number of tracks and the run time and then they spend a couple months hyping it, but then when you get your version of the album you find that 18.8% of the promised tracks are missing and the first thing that the shills do when people complain is come out and say, "well you got the artists prefered version". That is the same as what happened here, df advertised a product and lied about it. They promised a full uncut 88 minute version of a film and then didn't deliver that instead offering a film missing 16/12 minutes of it's runtime.

DF/CR stated BOTH cuts were provided by the director himself and neither are a "fan edit" as you incorrectly state.

So you should be taking it up with the director if you don't like his handiwork.

Meh, there are some "usual suspects" that take glee in finding something they can crap on about every Dark Force release that comes out, every single time.

Don't worry about the haters and enjoy the film, knowing it was the filmmakers best effort to give you his ultimate vision.

This 2012 blog entry gives you a rundown of the changes from the original film present in the 88min VHS FORCED ENTRY release some are opining about here:

(Several years ago, Code Red DVD had announced that they were releasing a special edition DVD of this film with both "The Last Victim" and the "Forced Entry" versions to allow the viewers to compare them side-by-side. Unfortunately, that DVD has still not seen the light of day.) "Forced Entry" is a heavily doctored version of "The Last Victim" that botches whatever virtues the original had in its favor....
Note there are some spoilers in the rest of the link...

Again, see above link - the 88min version is not the "uncut" version of the film, its an inferior re-cut of the original film. Read the below synopsis of the changes (that are for the worse) in the 88min VHS version people are talking about.

The Last Victim on this Blu-ray is from the OCN of the original film and what the director himself here provided as his ideal version.

Again, I do understand that some people are upset DF advertised an 88min cut and this cut is not on the disc - but again in the big picture of things, we got the director's preferred cut of an obscure film (the shorter cut being the one you admitted is superior yourself) and this is really the most important takeaway.
Ruined, even though you're NOT a shill, how do you have all this time on your hands to constantly post replies all day?

Arrow is a bigger label, their percentage should be better. But they have botched far more well known releases that have plenty of existing releases and reference points.

You can consider it a botch by the director of the film if you'd like, they are his cuts provided to CR/DF. The only thing DF did wrong was misreport the running time of what the director was providing, there is nothing wrong with the encoding or mastering of the disc. Personally, I am happy to have the best versions of the film which were created by the director. The 88min VHS version sounds terrible based on the above link that details the changes (the link actually describes the 88min version as "botched" btw).

Or, and this is a crazy idea but hear me out, have the storefront open 24 hours a day like Amazon or Diabolik or Deep Discount DVD or Bullmoose or Family Video or Grindhouse Video or Vinegar Syndrome or 88 Films or 101 films or Ronin Flix or CDJapan or Shout! He'll argue that none of these slacker websites have to deal with everyone piling on for no other reason than it's fashionable to bash DF. To Ruined, everyone is getting all hot and bothered over silliness like misrepresenting a product one is selling.

Glad I held off buying it. Hopefully 88 will put it out.

For the most part, Arrow and companies like Arrow have a replacement program in place when they botch a release like this.

On the other hand, CR and DF have a history of throwing the toys out of the pram when confronted with a botched release.

Shout Factory is good with replacement programs, Arrow US not so much. Of the 10-12 releases Arrow US botched they only had replacement programs on 2 or 3.

Regarding this release of The Last Victim, these versions on the Blu ray are reportedly the cuts of the film the director himself put together. There is nothing wrong with encoding or mastering of the disc The 88min VHS cut is also an abomination re-cut of the film from reports I have read such as one I linked previously. So what exactly do you expect CR/DF to do in a replacement? Add the re-cut 88min VHS quality rip even though it sucks both in PQ and as a movie? Who would actually watch that?
