Mastered in 4K lol. Most of the bond movies were mastered in 4K and dont see no
4K badge on them. The wizard of oz was mastered at 8K. Gimmick Gimmick Gimmick.
Keep in mind, there's a difference in the negative being scanned at 8K and how the final image is mastered.

My personal response to these is similar to my reaction to the Superbit DVDs back in the day: If you can master Blu-rays in better quality, why haven’t you been doing it all along?"

Well with Superbit DVDs, there's less room leftover for extras.

There's already so much bitrate potential in Blu-rays, I doubt adding to the bitrate will noticeably change anything over a transfer that already averages in the high 20's or 30's.

What's going to make the improvement will be (potentially) better scans/transfers used to make these Blu-rays.

They are mastered from 4k sources but still encoded at 1080p so playing them back on 4k equipment would be no different than playing any other BD on 4k equipment, it will be upscaled.

This article doesn't specify any new titles, but it says that 100 are finished and 70 are currently in the works.

Fingers crossed they've done new scans for The Life Of Brian and Bram Stoker's Dracula. Do Sony still own any rights to Robocop, it would be awesome if they did a fresh remaster of it? The Fox Blu leaves a lot to be desired.

Whilst they're at it, I really wish they would release a Blu-Ray edition of Ghostbusters II. That title is long overdue.

MGM own RoboCop. They struck a new master of the film last year, but it's yet to be released on blu and probably won't be until the theatrical release of the remake.

Unfortunately, I don't remember where I read about it. Don't recall if the new master was supervised/approved by Verhoeven, either.

I've never read anything concrete about a remaster being done for Robocop, just rumors mainly.

CNET says the new mastered in 4k titles DO have a quality improvement over the original blu-ray discs. They talked about how the bit rate has been raised by foregoing the extras on the disc to make a better picture. To me this sounds like the first release of Avatar on blu-ray. They went without extras to raise the bitrate, but the collector's edition with seamless branching seems to have the same PQ to me even though they packed more onto the disc. Has anyone read actual reviews of these yet? Anyhow here is the article: http://www.cnet.com.au/sony-mastered...-339344100.htm

ASM looks better there is more detail resolved, the colour is identical as I thought as the RED colour scheme has held any changes back.

Are there any shots of the original Spider-man?

Announcement on the Spider-Man sequels? Wouldn't bite if it's just the one.

Cant speak for all the releases but I received Ghostbusters on Saturday and only 32Gb of the disc is used so there is plenty of room left for extras but guess they want to make this whole line 'extra-less'

Bar the expanded colour and new masters, superbit was the old masters on the whole just with higher bitrate
