I have, but that's a tangible object that I can have forever, not a digital copy that can get deleted or corrupted or removed from a cloud because a studio didn't renew its license or whatever.

For $20, you can get a whole lotta product AND a digital copy. It just doesn't compute with me.

What do you think is on the Blu-ray Disc? The bd contains a digital copy or file of the movie. The main difference between the bd file and streaming file are the file size. The bd disc digital copy allows for more breathing room so it can present superior video and audio playback than a streaming file, since it is a bigger file size, but they both are digital copies. I could just as easily download the digital copy from vudu or iTunes , remove the drm and burn it to disc.

Well that's a ripoff imo. $20 for something you can't hold in your hand.

Yeah, but buying the actual BD disc you get to own the physical thing AND have a digital copy if you want. Seems silly to pay about the same for a digital copy just to burn it onto a disc yourself.

I'm just glad Netflix will make this disc available the same day it hits the shelves.

Yeah, it is silly to pay the same price for the streaming copy as the bd copy since you lose special features and PQ & AQ with the DC files for streaming/cloud based sites. I was just making the distinction when it comes to the digital copy vs bd discussion, because it is essentially the same thing with the both being digital copies and can be something someone could hold in their hands if they really wanted to feel like they own the movie. In the end, it just comes down to whether or not the lose of special features, picture quality and audio quality is worth not having the bigger digital copy file size on the bd with those things is worth it.

Yeah I actually drove way out of my way yesterday to go get the card as I heard it was there but as soon as I realised there was no blu getting sent to me I put it right back. Kiss my butt walmart. What a cheap scheme after every other one gets the bluray sent to you.

Thanking Wal-Mart for selling you LITERALLY nothing at a price that easily constitutes as "paying a lot for nothing?" How can you be bragging about this?

Yes... exactly! SethRex obviously does not understand the pitfalls of digital streaming entertainment.

yes 20 for any preorder is crazy,
there is something odd going on when you redeem the preorder though,
on vudu there are 2 placeholder photos for the movie, the 1st one says coming soon and the 2nd says watch in HDX, so i wonder what other bonus we get when it switches over

Every time one of these Marvel blu-rays are announced I always tell myself I'll play it cool--buy it if I have some extra cash or something. But once it gets down to a few weeks out, I'm always eager to get ahold of it.

I usually toss my slipcovers but all my Marvel movies have them, probably because my Iron Man BD "requires" one. Anyway, I'll probably have to buy the 3D edition of Thor TDW to have a slipcover...

this is what is odd about the walmart digital version in store when you enter the card number in VUDU

the 1st picture is the one that everyone has, even when you preorder on vudu
[IMG][/IMG]

the 2nd image is something that shows to anyone who ordered the preorder card at walmart
[IMG][/IMG]

so i want to know what is coming soon from the preorder card version, since you can already view the movie in HDX on vudu

That isn't a place holder, but just the theatrical trailer for the movie.

Is the 3D worth it in this? Or just stick with 2D?

I remember the first Thor had bad 3D, but all the ones since were decent. Will see what the 3D review says once its posted.
