I think that not only can the experience at home be duplicated, but it can in fact be surpassed even

LOL at the release date tho 12/29/2020
I wish they'd give us an official date already. Even though I still don't own any UHD equipment, this and Interstellar will be my first UHD purchases. One thing, no matter how big and amazing your TV or projector system is, it definitely won't be as good as an actual theater with a giant screen. |

I agree with this to a point, but not as a universal axiom. Since purchasing a 65” LG E6 OLED and an Oppo 203, I have admittedly become the kind of person I swore I would never become (the “oh, I’ll just wait for it to come out on home video to watch it” consumer), but as breath-taking as a screen at home bigger than 60” can be, for some movies, a 60’ screen is demanded. That’s the one single aspect that theatrical releases will forevermore have over watching movies at home—the titanic, overwhelming breadth of the screen.

Shamefully that means the bulk of my cinema visits are to see blockbusters and the like, many of which have only spectacle to recommend them. I actually think DUNKIRK won't suffer that much from the downgrade because I don't think it made very good use of the real-estate to begin with; but I realise that's a minority opinion. ![]() |

Also no TV can compare to an actual large screen theater projection. I saw Dunkirk in Imax and there's nothing that can top it at home, not even a $10,000 projector. I don't usually see movies in a theater that way though, so it's all relative. |

Having owned 4 projectors and countless TV's size is not the most important. Sure a big screen at home is great but projectors can't offer the benefits panels offer at this time and probably not for some time. I was weary going from a 110" screen to a 65" panel but in my room the 65" is still large while offering a much better image.
