‘Blue Beetle’ Review: Xolo Maridueña Shines in Entertaining and Emotional DC Entry
Ángel Manuel Soto directs the first live-action superhero movie built around a Latino protagonist, with Susan Sarandon as the icy military-grade arms developer set on harnessing his powers.

Supposedly the IMAX version will have full-screen sequences. They just dropped an interview with the director about the IMAX stuff but I haven't had a chance to go through it yet.

88% on Rotten Tomatoes, not bad.

But yikes, only 2 advance tickets sold for all showings tomorrow including the monster screen at my local theater.

The actual scores aren't really anything amazing: 62 on Metacritic and 6.7 on RT. This is very much a 3/5 movie for most critics, which is still probably more than what most people expected.

I'll never understand the tendency of some users on here to relentlessly post negativity regarding a film, praying for it's failure. When I dislike things, I do this crazy thing called ignore it.

Its all because of the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes. If these holdouts weren't going on, the stars would probably be on the red carpet just like any other premiere. But they're putting their jobs ahead of their egos, and I think its the smarter move for right now.

Heck even Oppenheimer cast walked out of their premier due to the strike

I know this will likely flop, but I am still looking forward to it. Going to see it in IMAX.

Regarding the Actor/writer's strikes, I can bet some actors/actresses are not thrilled with the timing of these strikes if they had a big opportunity finally arrive, and then everything got put on hold for their big break, potentially ruining a good chance. But life is unexpected, and they have to adapt to the obstacles and keep trying to eventually succeed.
Even so, that's awful the actors might not be able to even promote a film about to hit theaters due to the union/guilds rules if that's the situation.

On topic, Blue Beetle has a cool looking outfit/costume and mask. Definitely reminds one of Spider-Man's Arachnid claw outfit.

For some reason the robotic human villain reminds me of the bad guy monster in The Incredible Hulk movie from Marvel. I think it was Jeff Bridges as the bad guy in that one.

Jeff Bridges was the villain in the first Iron Man film; the Incredible Hulk faced a mutated version of the Abomination, played in mo-cap by Tim Roth.

Thank you. I mixed those two films up. It's been years since I watched them.
