1. Very weak action set pieces

2. A Villain bigged up to being immune from pain, and then doing nothing with it.

Yes, I agree, couldn't stand her, but love Sophie Marceau! She is awesome, so I must own TWINE!

YES. However not necessary to buy all 20 (I assume you have Casino Royale, that's mandatory in your collection). Pick your favorites and wait for good deals. They will be there.

not to mention that the "emotional story" was handled like an outtake from a soap oprea. It was too melodramatic and I never bought that there were any feelings developed between Brosnan and Marceau. I do agree witht he previous poster that I like Marceau as well (next to Richards, she came across like an award winning actress).

I really WANT to go out and buy them all, but my wife would probably kill me if I did. If it is really worth it - I might be willing to face death

Wow... we are so there on the sub sequence. I remember watching it wondering when it would end. Talk about overly long. In fact had trimmed the sub scenes and added to the pre-title boatrace, i'd have been more than happy!!

What I did like about the film is the unexpected. Never before had we seen the bad Bond girl as THE villian, she's usually the henchwoman. This was different in that she's the villian, Renard is the henchman.

Default Brosnan's women

What's interesting about the Brosnan films are the women. It's almost as if they intentionally had a really bad character for one of the women along with a really good woman character. Outside of Goldeneye, that seems to be the example:

Tomorrow Never Dies- Good- Wai Lin, Bad- Paris Carver
The World is not Enough- Good- Elektra, Bad- Christmas Jones
Die Another Day- Good- Miranda Frost, Bad- Jinx

... anyone else feel that way?

Yes, I was really really disappointed that she was not the French actress that hit it big in Hollywood (that went to Juliet Binoche). Some American audiences might have not recognized Sophie previously in Braveheart w/ Mel Gibson (she played his love interest). Also, check out a period movie called 'Firelight' - awesome, awesome movie, one of my top 10 (your wives, girlfriends will love) and she also played the lead as 'Anna Karenina' - just a few of her American films.

Default Best Buy steelbook editions

Assuming the steelbook editions are exclusive to Best Buy (I saw conventional BD editions of the Bond releases--in a regular BD case with slipcover--at another store), is there any reason to believe that all future Bond releases in this series will also come in steelbooks at Best Buy? I somehow think not, but I thought I'd ask. I'm not sure if I'd want a mixture of Bond films in steelbooks and conventional cases....

While I didn't have any problems with the "action" in the film, I agree with everything else.

Sure,... Femke was great. But I thought you meant each movie had a "bad" female charactor.

My bad.
