And then you add to it by saying "Never in a million years" would Kubrick make a glaring error on the order of Michael Bay.

Really?

FULL METAL JACKET - CONTINUITY ERRORS

"When Hartmann slaps Pyle during the drill & comp scene, the second marine in formation behind Pyle is played by two different actors between cuts of Hartmann slapping Pyle with his right hand and Hartmann slapping Pyle with his left hand."

"Animal's aimless shots blow away parts of the "My Toan" sign, but it is later seen intact."

"When Sgt Hartman asks Private Joker if he believes in the Virgin Mary, he is holding a billy club. A few seconds later, he strikes Private Joker with an open hand, the same hand that held the billy club a moment earlier. But he never dropped the club."
Yep. In addition, when you do 80 takes of a scene, which probably bleeds into several days, it's never going to match all the time. But that's the difference in knowing how movies are made, and someone just talking to talk.

Personally I can't understand boring.

But then again I could probably listen to Nicholson read the back of a cornflake box and be entertained.

I think the closest he comes to that is his radio host monologues in The King of Marvin Gardens. And, yes, it is entertaining.

It was probably in my first ten blu-ray purchases. I love this movie. It really messes with my happy place, in a good way.

I found this for $6.99 pre-viewed at Blockbuster many months ago and I don't regret it at all. I owned the HD DVD for a couple years as well.

I have to ask..... does this movie look good on Blu-ray??

I like this movie a lot but never bought it on Blu-ray because for some reason, I can't imagine it looking all that great. When I bought "A Clockwork Orange," I was disappointed in the picture quality. Now that has nothing to do with the transfer. It's the source material. So, I'm expecting "The Shining" to be the same way because to be honest, it looked pretty poor on DVD. So, I'm guessing the source material for "The Shining" is also pretty poor. I could be wrong to assume that "The Shining" BD will look poor, so please do correct me if I'm wrong and feel free to convince me to buy it.

I am not a techy by any means, but I have owned pretty much every VHS and DVD of this movie, PAL included, and this is by far the best looking ever. The Special features are also outstanding.

You can almost see the bubbles of lunatic drool on Jack's teeth.... this may be an exaggeration.

She is quite beautiful. Unfortunately for me, when I think of her I think of Underworld (meh) and Pearl Harbor (blech!). I loved her in The Aviator though.

She may be an excellent actress with a natural body, but she's far from being the "hottest woman in the world." The hottest woman in the world would be Taylor Swift.

Wow, I must be out of it. For some reason, when you mentioned Kate Beckinsale, I was thinking of Kim Basinger. Not sure why. I guess it because they have the same initials?

Anyways, yeah, Kate Beckinsale is that Underworld chick!!! Duh! *slaps self*
Yeah, she's fine! She's very sexy in "Underworld" and she's the main reason why I got into the movie. Very talented too. Hmm. Now I'm thinking of changing my avatar.

I think I'll get my Underworld disc out and make an avatar from a screenshot of her tonight. I'm getting tired of looking at Stallone anyway.
