I know most of the recent ones were assembled in Mexico.

Pretty sure none of the models in recent years were made in Japan. Way to expensive to manufacture and to import.

Panasonics are assembled in Mexico.

Pioneers are/were expensive because of the Japan - US parts and assembly & their quality is impeccable.

Best Buy appears to have the PDP-5020FD available only as a mail order option for $2,499.99. List price on the display is $4,000.

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8869147&st=pdp-5020fd&lp=1&type=product&cp=1&id=1210290068342

The Pioneer PDP-6020FD 60 inch original list price is $5,500. Best Buy has that for only $3,599.99 with store pickup available still in some states.

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8867871&st=pdp-6020fd&lp=1&type=product&cp=1&id=1210290067556

Just about every Best Buy store is out of stock on the PDP-5020FD including floor model. The PDP-6020FD including floor models are getting very hard to find at most Best Buy stores.

For the AK, WA, OR, AZ Best buys, there are no remaining 5020, maybe some floor models, but thats it. The 5020 is almost dead. Buy one now if you want it.

thats a pretty good price for the 6020 , now if I can only find the 151FD for under 4K and I would be a happy camper,I have my heart set on getting it in a month or 2 unless 58"V10 has some spectacular review that beats it PQ but I doubt it. and besides who the hell knows when the 58"V10 will be available

The stands are made in China. I just examined two PRO-101FD's that arrived from the same mail order place on Friday using all kinds of pixel screen tests. The PRO-101FD that arrived on Friday that was assembled in the US in December 2008 is the exact same quality as the PRO-141FD that was assembled in the US in November 2008 (perfect pixels). The problem is the other PRO-101FD that I received on Friday that was assembled in the US in Feb 2009 has one pixel that sometimes gets stuck. I tried using some software that claims to be able to fix some stuck pixels but it did not work. The stuck pixel is not always stuck it only occurs when viewing a completely blue pixel color test screen or once in a while during normal TV viewing. During normal viewing of program material if I am between 2-4 feet from the screen I notice a very small blue pixel that gets stuck for a few seconds and disappears and reappears. I was hoping the intermittent stuck pixel would go away but it might be something I might have to live with. The Elite Signature Series are hand checked and Inspected to the highest standards and maybe 1 intermittent stuck pixel is normal. I might live with the issue, not sure if Pioneer will cover warranty issues on one intermittent stuck pixel. The entire panel might have to be replaced to fix the issue.

The Pioneer manual on page 82 for the Elite Signature series says:

"In rare cases, some pixels can be permanently switched off, or on, resulting in either a black or colored pixel permanently fixed on the screen. This effect is common to all plasma displays because it is a consequence of the
technology."
I look at my 151 G9 and you are right,it say on back assembled in the USA with USA & Imponted parts

According to the discussions at the HD TV shootout last night, the KRP-500m/600m can now be fully ISFccc day/night/auto calibrated with new controlCAL patch.
-Thanks to Sonny for pointing that out.

It was also mentioned over at AVS that the 500m has better black levels than all other 9g Kuros including the 600m. They are even saying that the 500m has 10g tecnology.
The 500m and the 111fd were compared in the shootout and "The KRP500 is better based on the measurements, so if you are a "numbers guy" this is the set for you- however you could not see the differences even w/ the sets side by side- and if I understand correctly- these differences are really only measurable on the KRP500 not the 600". That was also with the ISF patch applied to the 500m.
Suddenly, my day has gotten much better now that I know I can add ISF to my set.

Glad that I spent an extra $1,500 for some hdmi ports. I was wondering if this was ever going to happen. Now what exactly would be the upsides of a 141 and 151 vs. a 600M?

Your story is the same as mine! I had the 52 XBR4 and loved it but the Pioneer pro 111fd takes it to another limit on Blacks! I'm loving pioneer now and its my 1st Plasma.

Deep blacks make all the difference in the world.

I have about 120 hours on my PIO and I recently used ControlCal to input D-NICE's recommended ISF settings. This change does improve the picture detail over the Pure mode. Next step is I made arrangements to have my PIO professionally calibrated (scheduled sometime in May). I am hoping the pro cal will allow the PIO to live up to its full potential.

I am really disappointed that Pioneer is dropping out of the TV business. They really won me over as a long term customer.

If you read all that thread obsessing over this over on AVS you will see that the negligible difference noted was between the 111 and the 500M. The 600M does not have any difference noted between the 141 and the 151.

My 151 will finally be here tomorrow and I have ZERO concern over their findings in the 500m. I am certainly not going to fret over something that requires test instruments to note a difference in black levels.

I went with the 151 because I wanted a 60" set, I wanted a built in tuner, speakers and the stand. I have no desire to mount this on the wall. I only have basic cable since I watch very little TV. I had no desire to have to get a cable box to watch TV. I also did not want to "have" to turn on my HT set up just to catch 20 minutes of the news while I am eating dinner.

As long as you wanted a 60” set that “revelation” between the 111 and the 500m is entirely moot.
