In a year or so Nolan will be the new Singer or Raimi. Meaning they were worshiped as gods for their previous films. But first thing they don't like, or new batman film comes along say they suck.

Do you think I care? Cause if i don't love the same movie as millions I'm a idiot or have crap taste. Maybe I should praise the almighty Nolan like the rest around here. I can be really cool then.

I like the Batman movies, I just don't care for his other ones. But I guess that makes me a horrible person or even the devil himself!

Oh boy, it's never a discussion until Lucas enter the picture!
I think we need a "Godwin's Law" for Lucas: Lucas's Law!

Not that line. That was a great line because it just perfectly displays the flaws of the Jedi.

Whatever, we're arguing Batman, not Star Wars...back on topic...

Nolan has made 4 movies that have been hailed as a "masterpiece" by a large number of critics and audiences and by that I mean the majority. Those films are Memento, The Dark Knight, Inception and The Dark Knight Rises. Whether or not you agree is totally up to you. His least acclaimed film is Insomnia in which still garnered favorable reviews.

It is not an overstatement to say that he is a great filmmaker. His work is cited by a number of other filmmakers for instance Sam Mendes who said the way he approached Skyfall was influenced by The Dark Knight.

Does everyone like the Coen's? No
Does everyone like Tarantino? a big No there
Does everyone like Fincher? No

Are they considered great filmmakers in general? Yes.

You can't hide from facts and numbers people. It is fact that a large majority of critics and audiences think he is great and makes great movies. That being said, it okay to have your own opinion. It is my opinion that Tarantino is the most overrated director of all time but I still recognize that he is well-received in general so I guess I just don't like most of his work, whatever.

EDIT: I do agree that the way Nolan is hailed as some sort of film god on the internet is rather irritating. Just remember that its the internet and its full of a bunch of idiots.

Bought the film on blu-ray and watched it. This was my third time seeing it all the way through. Gotta say I didnt like it as much as I remember. I like scenes in the movie but as a whole it didnt do much for me this time. The pace is wonky as hell. Takes an hour and a half for Bane to execute his plan and break batman then in the next thirty minutes bruce is takrn to prison, three months pass, and bruce escapes and gets back to gotham. Its just weird and feels like the film is leisuring along then goes all to hell in the last hour. And after watching it at home that second fight between Bane and Batman is pretty bad. Batman never once looks like he has any control in the fight. He stumbles, he wavers, he falls, and finally he gets a lucky shot in and messes up bane's mask. I know bruce was running low on energy and had a messed up back so I get why he wasnt all uber batman, but in a film where Batman doesnt really win much I feel there shoulf have been one really triumphant moment. And I dont count him getting rid of the bomb because that is incredibly short lived and followed by batman's death, and I cant really count the end because that was a bruce wayne moment not a batman moment.

Overall, upon my third viewing I give this gilm a 6/10. Pieces work but as a whole it is weak. Its amazing how quickly it has fallen. After my firat viewing i gave it a 10/10. Two days later after my second viewing it was an 8/10, and the shimmer was wearing off. Now 4+ months later with the sheen all gone it is a 6 at best for me. Just as a film it is a bit of a mess, and as a batman film it left a lot to be desired.

Nolan shouldn't even be mentioned in the same sentence as Tarantino or Fincher...

Seriously? All Tarantino does is rip off better filmmakers and Fincher is on the same level as Nolan imo.

And btw I didn't mention them in the same sentence as Nolan.

EDIT: Why does everyone have to be so hostile? Why don't people recognize that everyone has different tastes?

Btw I still think Tarantino makes pretty good movies even with my exaggerated jab at him

Tarantino doesn't "rip off" anything. He makes them his own.

Nolan has yet to make a film as great as Zodiac, Fight Club, The Social Network and The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo.

I've seen this. It's excellent and 100% true.

Nolan is good, but incredibly overrated.

I'd say that Nolan has yet to make a movie as awful as TGWTDT and has more than measured up to the likes of Fight Club. Aren't opinions fun?
