Miracle and Madness have great performances but neither are films I'd own.

Never seen Stay Hungry.

Rockadoodle is an absolutely terrible film.

Ralph Byrd in S.O.S. Tidal Wave,
now if they would add the serial SOS Coast Guard with Ralph Byrd and Bela Lugosi

Don't know too much about S.O.S Tidal Wave. Neither of those horror films interest me.

The 3 reviews on imdb for SOS TIDAL WAVE have sparked my interest a bit, although 2 of the 3 reviews are 1-star, basically calling it one of "the worst films of all time" (overused hyperbole). Still, they go into enough depth about the plot and the early use of "TV" before tv existed. Premise sounds ridiculous now, but could be goofy enough for a watch.

Are all Olive titles still $30 MSRP? Seems high for cheapie 60-minute poverty row flicks like VAMPIRE'S GHOST and SOS.

They usually end up being $12.99/13.99 from Best Buy/Amazon by release date or soon afterwards. Happy to add the two 40's horrors and Stay Hungry to my collection (at those prices).

Bela Lugosi fans will be thrilled that RETURN OF THE APE MAN (1944) is finally being officially released! VOODOO MAN was a hot seller for Olive films, & I'm sure that ROTAM will sell just as well.

THE VAMPIRE'S GHOST (1945) is a rare successful attempt at combining the horror, & jungle adventure genres together. Quite possibly Republic Picture's finest horror film, & their first "classic" horror to hit Blu-ray. Here is hoping that VALLEY OF THE ZOMBIES will soon follow.

Right now, I'm going back through this Olive Films thread in order to import my old reviews to my Letterboxd account (after smoothing out several grammatical edges).

I had forgotten how much I enjoyed films like The Mountain, Private Hell 36, Crashout, Plunder Road, Ramrod, Pursed, Blowing Wild, Caught, The Other Love, Escape from Zahrain, The Atomic City, The Red Menace, China Gate, Men in War, Hell's Five Hours, Johnny Be Good, The Bells of St. Mary's, Sands of the Kalahari, The Big Combo, City That Never Sleeps, Hell's Half Acre, Bound, Letter to an Unknown Woman, Strangers in the Night, and such.

I feel an Olive re-watch marathon coming on soon.

“I chuckled at one point early in the film, when David Niven's doctor character confiscates Barbara Stanwyck's cigarettes, because that's basically the same thing as confiscating Superman's cape or Captain America's shield.”

If the John Wayne titles are anything to go by, Olive titles that are 60 minutes or less tend to have an SRP of $24.95. I have 13 JW Olive titles in my collection, all under 60 minutes, with that suggested price.

I hope that Bela in The Ape Man will make it to a good Blu-ray as well.

My favorite "Olives" have been:

THE PAWNBROKER
COME BACK TO THE FIVE AND DIME, JIMMY DEAN, JIMMY DEAN
THE BEAT GENERATION
HIGH SCHOOL CONFIDENTIAL
THE BIG OPERATOR
BEACH BLANKET BINGO
MUSCLE BEACH PARTY

If only they'd release GIRLS TOWN (1959), another Albert Zugsmith classic exploitation flick that would go well with the three Zugsmith titles listed above. I'd also like more titles from the Beach Party series.

I had no idea that Olive had released some beach party films. I was about to upgrade my BEACH BLANKET BINGO DVD, as it is missing some audio stems, but I read a review at Amazon that says the source material is rough.

It was? Did Olive make some sort of public post about sales on Facebook or something?

While I have Voodoo Man and will order Return of the Ape Man & Vampire's Ghost,
I feel that having a Tom Weaver or Greg Mank or other historian commentary would add to the sales value.
It would allow me to recommend the discs to others who might not be so interested in just the film alone.

I enthusiastically recommended Kino's Blu-ray release of Invisible Ghost because of the excellent commentary, and I know at least 2 friends of mine who purchased it based on my telling them about it.

, but I think MGM has it? Also given all that is on the DVD, could Olive add more to the bonuses to make it worth it?

that pic is dvd and since MGM let OLIVE have FLIPPER - THE ADDAMS FAMILY should be a no brainer - it will sell HHHUUUGGEEE

also maybe that would force FOX to put out THE MUNSTERS complete series on BLU-RAY

the BluRay placeholder listed on the site also said MGM. I agree I love to see it make it to BluRay whoever it is through because I doubt MGM would release it. I have no doubt it be a huge seller.

I agree, Olive only gets my money because they're releasing titles that were not available on DVD.
