I saw DVD boxsets at Walmart that do just that. Don't know why they don't do that with the UHDs

I can't imagine Universal creating a new 3D DCP, it's likely the same one used in 2013 for the original 3D release.

I saw this the other night in 3D. It must be the same 3D master used for the 3D Blu-ray release. It had the same look and the same filtering and everything.

It was a lot of fun seeing it on the big screen though, I noticed little things I’ve never noticed before even though I’ve seen the movie a bajillion times since 1993. One random example is when Dodson walks out of his cab, he leaves the door open and the cab driver has to walk over and close it and he curses him out.

Yes! That was the first time I noticed that too when I saw this in theatres on Sunday. The last time I saw this movie in theatres was when it first came out in 1993. And I think I only saw it once or maybe twice back then.

the DCP made for 2013 is director supervised work. Why would it have been expected to be a different source now? Esp. when Spielberg is on record treating the title with neglect. He's done with it ever since.

That's the part that makes no sense to me to think it would be freshly done.

On top of that the colors are better then the newer 4k scan and the 3D is pretty well done. No need to go back and re-do anything

Assuming it's a new 2D 4K then? Have you seen it yet?

I just saw the 3D and it almost seemed like it is maybe 4k to each eye this time?

Anyway, one interesting thing is that without the 3D glasses the colors did remind me somewhat of the 35mm print (more than any other version aside from the 35mm), although with the glasses quite a lot of green+blue tinting was added and it made it end up looking more like the 2D home releases (but with less saturation, the glasses also lowered the saturation and made it even less than the 35mm print for some colors). I was surprised how much of a color tint the Real 3D glasses have (at the least when used with the new AMC laser projectors, perhaps they alter those colors more than for the Xenon projection system for which they were originally designed?), they really shift things a lot cooler color temp looking.

Anyway, it was super cool to see it. The 3D actually works pretty well for this one and was very well done. I was glad to have also gotten to see it in 2D this year as well back near the start of the year at small brand theater (very large screen though).

It is amazing how super well the CGI and everything holds up to this day.

Its 2k and 10 years old.
The newer 4k is the closest I have seen to actual 35mm prints, not as brave with the blue in the night scenes as it could be.
Sounded like the bullshit remix tho, but only watched for a bit

So you are really saying that they made a new 4k DCP? (and then also only show it in England? and also don't put it on the new 30th anniversary disc release?)
