On opening night of Empire, the film broke right after the crawl ended. Maybe we can get players to randomly stop a disc for that "theatrical presentation" feeling. The player can have an audio clip of the audience screaming "fix it!".

If your Sony player doesn't lock up on a BD100 as soon as the film ends run down and buy a lottery ticket.

Just edit in that one scene from Gremlins 2 for that authentic "oh shit the movie is melting" feeling.

Yup, I used to actually have to unplug my x700 due to it locking up. Awful player.

I'll contact Paramount and see if I can get a replacement disc.
Did you do a actual clean of the disc by using a dry fiber cloth
Clean all playing surface from center to edge you might need to do this a few times.

New UHD discs often have a residue on the discs that can’t been seen by visual inspection
This residue can cause random video freezing issues or audio dropouts during playback.

It can vary with different brands of UHD players some get affected more than others.
So don’t just assume a disc is clean by doing a visual inspection of playing surface.

I always give new UHD discs a clean before first use and also do a clean inside amaray case as the residue can end up on hub area of case.

I have the Sony X700 and don’t have issues as long as I give UHD discs a clean before each use.

Also always make sure your UHD player has latest official firmware that applies to all brands of UHD players not just Sony

In fact, some theaters made them themselves because the film came from the distributor WITHOUT THEM.
I never said filmmakers want reel change markers or celluloid burns on their image. I was talking about gate weave.

You want link? Watch the 4K UHD of Oppenheimer and watch The Holdovers in high def. You'll find gate weave, especially in The Holdovers, which was shot digitally. When the titles, or any burnt-in subs appear, they shake due to gate weave. In Nolan's case, it's natural. In the case of The Holdovers, it is artificially added to simulate the look of a projected print. It's not just gate weave, film grain authentic to particular film stocks, halation, et all, were meticulously added to each shot of The Holdovers. I guess you are not aware of the work of Steve Yedlin (DOP of The Last Jedi, Knives Out). He is a pioneer in the research of what constitutes the "film look" and how to re-create it digitally.

I won't be happy until my Oppo sends over a super-hot blonde on roller skates with a door-hanger tray loaded down with three double cheeseburgers, onion rings, and a large root beer n ice cream float. I don't do anything part-way

So 35mm have gate weave, film breathe, and cigarette burns. What does digital projection have?

None of the above, but shows pixelated images from the front rows. Image is sharper and harsher to the eyes compared to the soothing image of film (subjective experience may vary).

The streaming Atmos track includes the dialogue. Maybe the discs have been quietly fixed as well?

The missing dialogue at 2 hours 11 minutes in. Two lines of dialogue spoken by Leo. They are missing on the 4K version.

I could be wrong, but I believe they left a few things off, because someone was commenting earlier that to have all the extras you need to save every edition - DVD, BD, UHD.

In the last of the two lines. Leo's mouth isn't moving.

Much like Pokemons, you gotta collect 'em all.

I checked and my Sony X700's software is up to date. I cleaned the disc and it's not freezing anymore. It had frozen at 02:11:18 which is at a chapter stop.
