I don't have a switch in my head that I turn off or on when I go from watching The Dark Knight to watching Last Year at Marionbad. All movies I love go to the exact some place in my head, I don't buy the whole "well, you can like it as long as you know it isn't great". No, if I think it's great I think it's great. Period. I have my problems with The Dark Knight Rises even, it isn't my favorite or even in my top 5 for the year...but raging on people who might feel that way or assuming they are somehow less knowledgeable about film is just stupid.

Plus hating a director's work because of his or her fans is silly, I'm fairly positive on Darron Aronofsky but don't find any of his films to be exceptional. While the people constantly trying to convince me he is incredible might be mildly annoying it doesn't change my opinion any or shift my mild positive opinion to hate.

I think I am not expressing myself clearly since I am not good in English but what I wanted to say is that yes Nolan makes good movies but he is not some kind of genius out there and not the best ever. He is good in making Action, Thriller movies and specially he is the only one I think who try to avoid CGI Crap as much as possible and thats why his action sequences looks very real and believable and I greatly admire him for that.

Even though I like TDK series but I believe in quality cinema more rather than commercial films. So when people say that Nolan is the best out there I say to them "No". He makes movies which are guaranteed to be successful. He knows what people want to see and offer them what they want and thats why he is successful.

Now talking about his fans, they flood imdb whenever there is a new Nolan movie. Same happened with "Inception" and they mange to get it on top over "The Godfather 2" which is a shame and sorry to say but mostly Nolan fans are not even aware or havent seen gems like The Godfather and even if they see I believe they will not like it because there are no car chases or action in them. There is a thing called quality cinema which sadly his fans are not aware of.

Now, before bashing me further please note I say mostly his fans so that dosent mean you are one of them. I am talking about those blind fans who just write every bad word from dictionary when you say even a little critical about Nolan at imdb.

I hope you guys got my point.

PS: Yes I used the wrong word "Hate". I dont hate Nolan. I just hate the way fans are projecting him. Like I said above my English is not good so I misinterpreted myself! Nolan still has to do a lot of work to reach in top directors list and he has the talent and potential to do so.

Oh, please! Nobody's asking for some major effort, man. Maybe you should take that up with the folks who run the site. I'm sure they'd be very receptive to your smooth repartee and delete all spoiler tags immediately. Keep smokin', must be good stuff.

I still think its up to the user to decide if they want to venture into a thread about a movie they havent seen, irregardless of what the threads content is *supposed* to be. Things always get off a little bit. Its not hard to use spoiler tags but sometimes we forget or dont feel what we are saying is an actual spoiler. Its not like this film is a "Who shot JR" or "Who killed Laura Palmer" type of thing. Not quite that much of a mystery.
People can go into the movie forum and discuss technical details and it won't ruin any surprises. Big difference.
As I said, there is no rule saying one has to use spoiler tags...it's just a considerate thing to do. Obviously the world will always have inconsiderate people, not much I can do about that...short of what I've been doing: Politely asking people to use them.
That's why the option exists.

Also, "irregardless" is not a word. For your future reference.

Again, see my post above about inconsiderate people. Being inconsiderate usually starts at an early age, and if left unchecked will continue through life.
I'm sure you know that already...or, at least, people around you do.

Can't ... can't we all just get along?

Seems a bit late to expect spoiler tags from Rises.

Other forums established that they don't expect tags after the Blu-ray/DVD release. (It's out everywhere and who hasn't seen it, see it)

And they don't expect/enforce them here. As I said it's more a courtesy thing. Just like if you were watching this movie with family/friends, who have not seen it yet, you don't go announcing every scene, do you? No. It would be frowned upon.
Again, there is no rule requiring one to use spoiler tags...the option exists as a courtesy to those that have not seen said film.
The logic: "Well it's been out for some time, so you should've seen it" is flawed, at best.
Technically someone who gets advance screenings, could go on message boards(like this one) and ruin it for everyone!

I agree, but when exactly do we consider it right not to use spoiler tags? That's the question we all ask ourselves. I always use tags when talking about things in the movie. But people shouldn't get upset at someone for spoiling a movie in the Blu-ray discussion thread, they should be aware of the danger before entering if they haven't seen the movie yet.

I always try to use spoiler tags, even if I'm talking about a movie from 50 years ago. That's just me. I don't believe the "statute of limitation" for spoiler tag use expires. If I forget to use them, I have actually gone back and applied them after having noticed, and will apologize if someone points it out. Obviously, this shows I care about how other people view these forums. Others just don't care. It's really that simple.
A leopard never changes it's spots.

What I think is very telling are the few that, not only DON'T use tags, but defend why they shouldn't have to use them! It's like belching loudly in a restaurant...there's no law saying you can't do it, but I'm quite certain it's frowned upon. But people that do those sorts of things usually just don't care.

I completely agree with you. It's a common courtesy but at this point ones who don't use tags shouldn't be called out and crucified for not using them.

Why? Not everyone regularly goes to movie theaters or immediately runs out to buy something on video. Sometimes something will just hang around my Netflix queue for months, I regularly see movies that are 1-2 years old that I didn't get around to the first time.
Hell, even with old movies... there's constantly new people on earth, eventually they start exploring film, and have to see older films for the first time...
Why not just use spoiler tags for any plot details? It's not like it's difficult... juts highlight the text and hit the button....

Again, I don't think anyone's asking for spoiler tags everywhere - only if you're revealing plot twists or surprises. Doesn't seem like that much to ask.

Good points. Just out of simple courtesy, spoilers should be used when discussing part of the movie which will "spoil/ruin" the viewing experience for members who have not seen the film.

It was your term!
I don't know what you mean, because I don't see who(on either side of the grear spoiler tag usage debate) is being overly harsh in their comments.

Either way, it is what it is. There are those that care, and will use them. There are those that don't care, and won't use them. And people will always complain about it.
Perhaps this is a deeper life study?

Agreed - OR as a simple courtesy, the thread titoles should include a warning about spoilers and therefore they've now armed the would be poor souls that might have the film spoiled for them some ammunition to avoid said spoilers.
