My 151 will finally be here tomorrow and I have ZERO concern over their findings in the 500m. I am certainly not going to fret over something that requires test instruments to note a difference in black levels.

I went with the 151 because I wanted a 60" set, I wanted a built in tuner, speakers and the stand. I have no desire to mount this on the wall. I only have basic cable since I watch very little TV. I had no desire to have to get a cable box to watch TV. I also did not want to "have" to turn on my HT set up just to catch 20 minutes of the news while I am eating dinner.

As long as you wanted a 60” set that “revelation” between the 111 and the 500m is entirely moot.
The real problem is that I paid $1100ish for the ISF modes ($400 would have gone to the stand). From everything I had read the ISF modes made a huge difference over pure, and in my opinion after experiencing them I agree. If I had ever known that they would be available for the 600M I might have paid $3000 and then bought a stand at my local Best Buy. 2 years of warranty is nice however.

From the little I've read at AVS it sounds maybe just a little shady to use the profiles and then revert back if you need to contact Pioneer for service. The extra cost is probably worth not feeling shady about contacting Pioneer regarding all of this.

What do ya'll think? I guess if Pioneer has no problem with it, but just won't support it then no problem?

I love my TV, it blows everything else away, but I would have loved to have saved $1,100 if at all possible.

It's only arriving tomorrow. I plan on doing the break in period suggested by "D-Nice" over on AVS and then follow his settings. Let me get it all broke in and "tweaked out" and then I may take you up on that very kind offer!

The Kuro demo disk is what got me my first plasma. My 42 inch panny. I was absolutely amazed how much more detail plasma had over LCD. It was out of this world. It was demo disk 2009. This is back when Sound Advice was still around.

My sales guy put the settings the same on both the plasmas and the LCD's and when the stones on the walls and the roses came up. I was sold on the spot. The detail it pick up was breath taking.

If you are buying a TV try to get one of these demo disk and compare it to the TV"s you want to buy. There is no argument for me plasma is beautiful.

I've read somewhere about the option to turn off the screen while the TV is still on, anyone knows how I do that? Thanks.

Update on the Pioneer tabletop stands and Ultra thin wall mount situation for the PRO-141FD, PRO-101FD, KRP-500M, and KRP-600M

Pioneer just got in stock the 50 inch KRP-TS02 Table Top stands. There is now no longer a shortage of stands and Ultra Thin Wall mounts for any of the 2008 9th generation Pioneer displays.

KRP-TS02

Is it me or does a good calibration on standard look good? and sometimes better than Opt mode. isf modes on my PLasma look great on some things but standard has some pop to it.

I have to say, now almost 5 months later, this TV continues to shock and impress me everytime. I get emotional sometimes watching content.

I saw some IR (4:3) on my 5020 for the first time ever over the weekend. I'm pretty sure it's already gone but it freaked my ass out.

I'm curious what happened though. I always just leave it on the MOVIE settings but while I was watching the end of the men's final at Wimbledon I decided to try some of the other settings. Mostly I had it on OPTIMUM for a while but I also had it on SPORTS for a while I think. The match was 16:9 of course but I'm sure there were some 4:3 commercials and I also changed channels from time to time.

The 4:3 IR wasn't extremely noticable. I could mostly just see it when the background of the shot was filled with the funky green padding on the walls around the court.

So my question.... was just the minimal amount of time using these other settings responsible for the IR? If so, HOLY CRAP!

I noticed that on my 5020, too. I really don't think it was the t.v., though. Were you watching it on NBC? I think it had something to do with the feed. Even when there weren't 4:3 commercials, I saw the sidebars were lighter when the match was playing. I noticed it while watching golf on NBC, too (very noticeable in the green grass). I would change the channel and it would go away on other networks. I never watch 4:3 content on the set, so IR should not be an issue.

Awesome. I thought about it possibly being NBCs broadcast but thought... "naw, there's no way they'd screw up something this big."

NBC
