Nope, never seen it before. I'm officially done buying Criterions for this sale, since I added Revanche and Vivre Sa Vie (picking it up in a few days). Any other Criterions I want will have to wait until the November sale, which is when I will get Seven Samurai and Thin Red Line, for sure.

haha did it? I think it's still a long wait on netflix but I'm not sure. That's towards the back of my queue

I'm not sure if I like it or not thinking about it, maybe I'll decide after a second viewing. But there are some funny stuff though!

Oh Man you are in for a treat. Paris Texas is ALL ABOUT family. I loved loved loved it. It's a peculiar film too. I'd wager a dollar or two that you will give it 4 stars.

I thought you werent willing to watch Serious Man because you didnt like the Coens work.

I'll watch it, it just won't be anytime within the next two years

I don't HATE their work, Fargo and Lebowski are very good and No Country is good too. I just think they're vastly overrated. I have way too many movies I'm eager to see, that's all.

I found it odd until it started to get into its groove. Then I found myself getting into the quirkiness of it. A very touching film for me. The final scenes and what we learn are

Get this. So Rope has been around #10 for at least two months. I go on a little bit ago to rearrange the top 8 based on what I told you the order would be. Rope disappeared! I had to re-add it.

I hope it doesnt leave Netflix's inventory. That happened to me with a few older flicks and I was bummed.

It happened with one movie I wanted, but I can't remember what. Eventually it came back after many months.

Yeah definitely.

I gave it a "safe" 7/10 rating, not bad but not great for me, though I absolutely loved the WTF intro, was also creeped by it! Love that kind of stuff.

The WTF intro scenes were awesome. And the reveal that it was

Predator 4/5

The briefing looks like sh!t. Apart from that the image is really good. A few sloppy shots here and there but nothing major. I'm pleased with the new Blu-ray. And the movie totally kicks a$$.

I watched a dubbed version and almost every emotional scene seemed unintentionally funny because of that. Have so see it again in swedish with subtitles. But for now no rating!

Next greatest rental: “Fritz the Cat.”

Holy crap, it’s an X-rated cartoon!

It really wasn’t what I expected though. It does have a lot of rampant sex, but that’s not really the film’s focus. Instead, it’s more like “A Catcher in the Rye” in the style of “School House Rock” with lots of psychedelic visuals and a fair amount of graphicness. It’s an interesting (if not strange and somewhat nightmarish) foray into the realm of adolescent idealisms, counter-cultural idealisms, civil rights movements, and perhaps to some extent dark violent tendencies.

Ralph Bakshi’s imagery and style is perfect for this production; it definitely has a psychedelic vibe to it. The animation quality is about as good as any of his other films, but it’s very fitting for this film.

Regardless, there’s not much of a story to this, and the characters are not terribly well-developed (in fact, I don’t think there’s anything to like about them). Ultimately, I’m not even sure what the point of the movie is; I see it as a mere novelty.

3/5 (entertainment: 3.5/5, story: 2/5, film: 3.5/5, i/e: 1/5)
