I really wish the cynics would elaborate and give specific examples of how the Star Wars sequel trilogy has become "Disneyfied", because I just don't see it.
This film felt very much like a Lucasfilm product without George Lucas at the helm. Everyone contributing ideas and working together as a team to make the best film possible that would appease old and new fans. It's also been well documented through interviews and Q&As how this story came to be and who contributed certain ideas. Last edited by spanky87; 04-06-2016 at 04:55 PM. |

Besides, it's STAR WARS for ****s sake. It's an immensely successful brand. You're GUARANTEED to make a huge profit. Then again, Disney's happy with making safe, average, run of the mill movies (i.e. the Marvel series) that have no heart or real consequences and just exist to create sequels. |

Besides, with regard to the "updated Death Star" in this movie, stranger things have happened in real life. |

Just the fanboy in me, but I'd love to see Eps. 7 incorporated into the character compilation artwork from the first 6 movies so I could put all the Blu-rays into a 20-24 disc holder (like the ones that were used in the UK region-free Blu-ray boxset for Star Trek: The Next Generation and Star Trek: Enterprise) and then print up that cover for the case

Target goofed and sent me the regular edition. Joke's on you, Target. I was thinking of canceling that order and going with the regular edition anyway.
Cheap cardboard packaging... bah! Streaming exclusives... bah! A jedi craves not these things. ![]() |

I'm guessing she didn't want to cut her hair, so they just removed it in post.

Disney only has control if it goes against the brand and they can suggest a change or flat out refuse to distribute it. But with luckily with Disney, there are different distribution studios under The Walt Disney Company. Disney just has to find the right distribution arm for the film. And even if Disney refuses to distribute a title, those three can go to other distributors outside of Disney if they wish. Best example are the darker and harder Marvel TV shows which are still credited to Disney owned ABC Studios but are distributed and shown on Netflix. These shows are TV-MA and Disney simply doesn't have an outlet that regularly handles TV-MA rated content. The Star Wars films are being silently distributed by Walt Disney Pictures, hence the DMA compatibility. Strange Magic was handled by Touchstone Pictures, so no DMA. It'll be interesting to see where Indiana Jones 5 ends up but despite WDP already having distributed the PG-13 Pirates of the Caribbean films and Star Wars, it could still end up under Touchstone pictures. |
