No, they didn't stretch the image. Some of the earlier episodes have had a tiny bit taken off the top and bottom, but the sides have been opened up to reveal more information. After a few episodes, I don't remember how many, the top and bottom is same as ever, but with the sides unmatted and opened up. I really like the sides opened up on it. It makes it seem more cinematic to me. The audio and video have also been completely remastered, and as it was originally filmed on 35mm film, just like most big budget movies, it looks like a real high quality film. Considering that The X-Files and Game of Thrones are my two favorite tv shows of all time, I'm really happy to be able to watch it in this quality. ![]() |

Yes the Wayward Pines show has a bit of the weird factor like in Twin Peaks and the town sign sure looks familiar.

I guess I should mention that I got a used pc tower from work with a BD player/ripper and I've spent days doing a complete factory reset and trying to get it all setup for a HTPC type setup. I'm new to this type of thing, but from reviews and windows 10 compatibility, it looks like Kodi is the way to start.

Kodi comes in many flavors, You can even boot directly into it by using something like 'Kodibuntu'. If you only plan on using it for media playback i recommend installing that. ![]() But for Windows here's what you do. -> HOW-TO:Make Windows boot directly to Kodi (as a shell) Lol but i have only ever used XBMC/Kodi together with my original xbox. So a long time ago. ![]() I myself are using media player classic but i use mine for a lot of web surfing as well. If you want me or HTG to take a look at your system specs you can use something like HWiNFO to find them out. It gives you info right when you start up the program. You can take a screenshot of that. ![]() Something like the ODROID-C1 or Raspberry Pi 2 (not as powerful but better support) is also quite cheap and has a small form factor as well. Last edited by spaceape; 07-26-2015 at 01:39 PM. |

Did you update your bluray players firmware to the latest. This is the latest regionfree firmware i believe.
![]() Your USB slot doesn't look like it can do video playback but the dvd and sd card slots can take AVCHD. A program like >tsmuxer< can quickly and losslessly convert media files to that format. To convert from mkv to mpeg2 i like mkv2vob. To remove Packed bitstream from mpeg4 files (divx/xvid) use MPEG4 Modifier and to remove Header Compression from mkv files use MKVToolNix/Mkvmerge by doing this method. This can help with playback compatibility. You can check for packed bitsteam with mpeg4 modifier and header compression with MediaInfo. ![]() Last edited by spaceape; 07-27-2015 at 05:47 PM. |

![]() I now have a Sony BDP-S1200. Got it for about $55. It has a usb slot on the front and I also got a Toshiba Canvio Slim II 500GB hard drive. It's about the size of half a deck of playing cards and plugs right in to the usb slot. My new cheap BD player will play pretty much any kind of audio/video that I've thrown at it. I even tried a few BD rips and it even does DTS-HD MA and Dolby TrueHD from the hard drive to the usb. It's also very easy to control, as I can just use my BD remote as if I'm playing a blu-ray disc. I just upgraded my new laptop to Windows 10 and am right now updating my new(used) tower to it too. My laptop is capable of outputting HD audio, but unfortunately my tower isn't. I was hoping to hide my tower in the closet with my other HT equipment to use as a HTPC, but apparently the only way I can do that with HD audio is to get a new graphics card. The tower has an Nvidia g210, which from my testing and reading about, doesn't do HD audio. I have figured out how to share files from both my computers and my PS3 though, which is cool. |

Well alright then.
![]() I use TVersity too stream from the pc myself (via DLNA). I have no experience with the new generation of consoles. Heck i don't even think i've ever touched one from the PS3 generation and onward. ![]() Entry level AMD cards are pretty cheap. I got myself a R7 260x a while back. It has hdmi audio and can even be used to game a little bit. ![]() Last edited by spaceape; 07-31-2015 at 10:18 PM. |
